Samsung is working on AI phones, which could be "radically different" from current phones

22 July 2024
Samsung MX lead TM Roh said that most of the R&D resources spend on mobile development are going towards AI phones.

I wish we could stop the progress. Humans are getting stupid, as phones get smarter.

Clearly the AI wont stop at just serving the user... it will serve corporate interests first.

Ah yes the zero privacy and basically a smartphone what makes the end user dumb.

So many improvements to be done instead of AI...night vision, faster charging, better battery, better cameras, better speakers, folding screen with no crease...etc

Where as my claims only discussed who the really benefits and raises questions of the intention behind A.I

And that I no way prevents the technology from moving forward

You on the other hand seem very radical and inflammatory labelling me as a threat that kind of thought process is dangerous doing this while not even being neutral enough to ask questions to gain an understanding or conversation

Close mindedness never stopped the airplane or electricity, but labelling people as threat has burnt people on the stake

And yet more effort focus and time is spent Herr to COMPLAIN and GRIPE about bigger features or more higher features before they get a chance to evolve.

Just a VERy simple counter to the smarter person in the room. Lol

Read this twice and think before responding and see exactly what I mean. The same goes eith the majority of students in universities or in politics or in our communities. People never question what's given nor ask how it's implemented step by step. When a leak or issue happens ONLY then do we complain and ask for information. But we like to boost were better than that BUT we don't do so like we think.

Ellen Dale, 22 Jul 2024Ai should be a feature and not a standalone product🗣️ I me... moreHell no!

There is a NEED if done right.

Example. Take a screenshot of your screen. On ANY android phone since the LG made Nexus 4!

Notice after 10yrs the speed and animation has NOT changed?!! Why?!

AI possible solution: I can blink my eyes twice on purpose FASTER than a hand swipe (finicky implementation) and using two buttons (I may need 1 hand for carrying a bag or groceries, or I'm driving but see a way point or something on the map not associated to my trip plan).

Now implementation NO animation for this and a tiny banner at top of screen or a small icon briefly presented for confirmation or just a quick audible sound each or either FASTER than the existing stupidly slow animation!

This ads benefit to ALL users not just to accessibility!

The promise of Google Glass can evolve here too with AI!
I have a vision where physical navigation of the software or private communication no longer NEEDS a smartphone connected nor your voice!
                        ASL can be done.
Gestures too for UI navigation manipulation and using other apps.

Humans will evolve to use ASL for very private communications while simultaneously using their voice for audible communications JUST to mislead those listening. We do this already woth vocal or visual subtle movements when people are cruel or mislead you or to scam you!

Time will tell if this is the case; opinios are divided. But the answer will come nevertheless, and without room for interpretation.

For instance... a man... moreThere is also the silent majority that couldn't care less about the 3.5mm jack, or actually prefer not having cables in their day-to-day life and that's why they keep on buying despite the removal.

Have you ever considered this as a possibility? The fact that people complain about the jack doesn't automatically make them a majority. It could be just that most people don't have anything to comment, exactly because they are happy with the way things are going...

raditz594, 22 Jul 2024Based on this, Samsung is going a direction that I find hig... moreGreat you'll be limiting yourself!

If you're referring to AI features ... that's sad. The same technology Luddites said the same thing at the dawn of smartphones when MS office software to edit documents debut, or social.media app dawned thinking only PIM ans local.sync over cable to.PCs was ever needed of smartphones - thinking everyone only wanted PDA functionality.

But, when software debuts as a new category it comes limited in its scope. After a year more functionality comes about. With the exception of Social media. New emoticons or size of video length or resolution gets bumped up or other types of reactions or shared communications in groups or etc. BUT the apps stay the same.

AI will bring a LOT of functionality you have no idea which will help you.

Check out on YouTube Apple Knowledge Navigator. It's from 1983(!) So forgive how old things look. Forget it's even Apple's vision (cause even THEY did and they had a leap start with Siri and the iPad but dropped the ball) only focus on what was done and HOW it was done!

Hint: the user NEVER touched the device!

Secondary Hint : Superman comics and Man of Steel shows Kryptonians NEVER touching their computing or AI equipment. Yet their HW intuitively assisted them or followed NONE verbal commands nor needed physical touch! And their users did NOt require an Accessiblity mode to first be enabled and configured for them!?

                                    Awesome!

Suck it haters saying that Samsung hasn't been innovating.

They have been internally but the devices or software not yet ready but will be coming.

Expect some hardware devices to significantly change form factor or in how we carrying them aka wide screen & significantly larger watch screens that wrap around our wrist or Arms like weve seen military use in Sci fi movies. Nokia fans of old will rejoice.

Definitely due to the Pixel 9 series about to launch which evidently will have a few AI features unique to this.

Also... if manufacturers release some crap AI, people could (and should IMO) change their approach to mbile phones, their behavior, used it less, or different, to have an impact. Just not liking or commenting something is never a strong enough answer.
And: the fact that you say that my comment is wrong has zero relevance for anyone, including me. It's just your move to act strong while being weak.
