I saw the design and price and was shocked by the new pro version for more than 1200 euro till 2000. It made me buying the 8 pro for 460 euro with one year subscription.
Glad I did and processor is quick enough and still 6 years security updates. Still we will see if it get there thinking about battery performance and maybe the cpu/gpu with new android os.

geemy, 26 Jul 2024every year we hear rumors about insane pixel price increase... morePixels price get a lot of complaint because on a hardware level it's losing midrangers like Poco F6 or Oneplus Ace 3v. It's literally a phone half a step above stuff like Redmi note 13s and Cmf phone.

Although price will ... moreevery year we hear rumors about insane pixel price increases. it's usually prices coming from countries where pixels are simply more expensive. in the end the prices stay about the same or slight increase. if you're patient enough to wait for offers you'll get them with several hundred dollars off

My goodness Pixel, who approved that design? The Pixel 6 Pro is your brst design and tweaking it yearly made it look uglier. This one is just a NO. No wonder you cant sell enough phones to really matter
Seems like Pixel and Samsung have the same advisors this year - copy Apple. If prople wanted to use a device that looks like Apple might as well just use Apple. This one looks like a cheap immitation.

8 has a nicer design because of the rounded sides. It fits much nicer in the hand.

I tried curved display a few years back, but the experience was very sub-optimal - lots of false touches and the phone just didn't feel secure in hand when using one-handed. It is possible that software would have improved for preventing ghost touches, but I feel it is just not worth the risk.
Flat edges similarly are a no-no; I imagine it would be really painful when using one-handed for a prolonged time.

Accidental touches are also a bit of a problem, because the software attempts to detect accidental touches and blocks them. Which is great, but it works both ways. Sometimes you want to touch something in the cornet of your screen and it is blocked. Annoying.
I think everyone is agreeing with you that curved edges of the frame are more comfortable and ergonomic.

I hate the flat frames. I think the Pixel 8a is the best of the Pixel 6 design language dating back to 2021. Rounded sides and matte back. The Pixel 9 lineup also has a more hideous camera hump.

The flat one kinda like iPhone. I like it. I never bore with phone that have iPhone like design, I don't know why?. I just hope the cost is not expensive :(
