Typical Apple product. They take things away and give you the minimum and you're gonna be happy with it. What will you do, buy a better iPhone? Oh right, Apple are the only ones that make a better version, you give them money one way or another.

Coast, 25 Jul 2024Don't worry guys it'll only have one rear camera ... moreIf the Android cameras are 50MP + 2MP + 2MP, it definitely will. But even at $150 they have 8MP ultrawide now so I would not like if they don’t have ultrawide. Only if they built in like a 200MP ultrawide 0.5x that can crop to 50MP 1x and 12.5MP 2x can I see a single camera being viable.

Oh and by the way the single rear camera will probably save on weight as well. Though I‘d rather have it and not save those 6 grams

Single rear camera would be such a weird thing to skimp on, but I‘m not interested in phones this big anyway. Now if they could make the standard 6.1 inch model much thinner and lighter, that would be a different story. But I guess battery life would suffer too much on a smaller device. As the saying goes, „the technology is not there yet“. Still it would be nice to see a thinner iPhone again just as a proof of concept, they have been getting thicker and thicker since the iPhone 6, which is undefeated at 6.9mm (I know bendgate and all, but these would use better internal frames and a glass back so I don’t worry about bending. The new iPad Pro does not even bend at least in one direction because of an internal skeleton, and that is multiple times larger and thinner yet.

Galaxy S 24 Ultra, 25 Jul 2024But it is expected to be more expensive than Pro Max though... moreThis is impossible since it is written that it will have a lower power chip and only one photo sensor

Single camera is ok but i doubt it will be a innovative camera, as nokia once did. With all this AI garbage wandering arround, i cannot help myself but thinking that this camera will be only AI powered, nothing would be real anymore. Iphones never had good quality cameras and were always only brag but no show, this might be even worse if you hate the "plastiky" AI pictures...

Looks like bendgate will be back. Also expect an abysmal battery. Thinner phone=smaller battery.

single camera is fine as long as they make the phone small

I feel a new "bend-gate" coming along. Apple wants to revive the iPhone 6 saga :-)
Also I wonder what the hell is the added value of going back to ultra slim phones. It was a short craze back in the days of the dumb-phones as it faded away as fast as it came once the people realised the trade-ins that came with such slim things. Now Apple wants to relaunch that craze (while their ultra-thin iPad is all but bend proof, at least in one direction) and ask premium money for it under the excuse that it requires premium tech (yeah right). And of course the Chinese and Korean phone makers will follow soon b y offering their versions of ultra-slim sizzle. Maybe Apple wants to target ultra-thin models (with their unhealthy slim bodies) so that they can identify with a...phone...

Hopefully they will put the camera completely in the phone like older iPhones (5s and older) and have slim design with curvy edges and corners like iPhone 6.

They fing around all these year and still didn't find out a market for plus and mini. As if they less greedy and make the regulars with 120Hz and a little bit less battery since 14 Plus, it would have been a success.
And now they decided to make a Slim version with less battery, no ultrawide, worse thermal? L company.

woah, it used to be that Samsung used to take risks and now Apple's the one taking risks and experimenting. Pretty sure this'd flop as well, a 6.3" or 6.4" slim phone with a dual camera, 1 main and a UW, would have sold a lot better. Besides, why pay so much for a phone that's not a "pro"? They literally brainwash you into thinking you're second class citizens if you buy their base models so yeah, unless this is positioned alongside the Pros, this'll fail again.

"the iPhone Plus currently makes up only about 5% to 10% of iPhone shipments, and that's why it's getting the axe.
(...) The iPhone 17 Slim will have a 6.6" screen"
In other words, Apple learned NOTHING with the colossal flop of the Plus.
I used to think they were smart.
They axed the much more popular Mini because "it didn't perform well"... When they kept launching it next to the even smaller and cheaper SE that cannibalised sales from the Mini.
They replaced it with an oversized phone (the Plus). Obviously it sold like crap 'cause poeple who wanted a giant iPhone were already well served.
And now they're replacing it with ANOTHER oversized phone? Ahahahah well, mark my words: it'll flop too.
