Did you investigate the Nokia/HMD XR20 and XR21 for rugged devices? They are close to normal phones rather than the ridiculously ugly bricks of Chinese rugged brands. The battery capacities are not huge but I'd rather that than carrying a 300g phone.

I'm currently limping along a Nokia 8.3 and have absolutely loved the phone although it was never perfect. I have just bought my daughter a pulse pro as her first phone and it is really good for the price point. I am looking to upgrade to a rugged phone in the future as it will suit my need best. I have been looking at BL9000 pro. I think if you look at what people think when they think Nokia they think about them being indestructible. I think there is a place in the market where Nokia could have gone. Like a 7500mah powered mid range android device with all the IP ratings that isn't like an arctic expedition sat com brick but a substantially rugged middle ground between premium smart phone and super niche explorer devices.

As for the launcher, oh i hate the stock launcher, i use niagara, the best there is, for me at least. Before downloading niagara, like 7 years ago. I changed launchers like t-shirts, because all had something interesting, none was enough flow or integration with the system, niagara is so good made, so much so that i would like to see a contacts and messages app from them that work the same way.

With the Nokia phones they had reasonably stable and reliable phones. Not perfect however. With the major updates they had more often issues as I was able to experience with my X10 and X20. Had no issues with my G10 and G20 however. I expect that their own branded devices will be the same. Good but not great but I can live with that. I just hope that they have used another launcher than the dreadful one they had on Nokia phones with their weird pixel bleeding issues they had at the topside of the screen.

Techgg, 29 Jul 2024Thank you so much for this information 🤝🤝🙏🙏🙏🙏Since they managed to run Android 14 smoothly on a weak SC9863A1, we can expect them to optimize to make complete use of this chipset.
The overall optimization is going to decide whether this phone is a good purchase or not, after all.

Using moto edge 50 fusion, has same chip. Shutter lags a lot, i saw in reviews but never thought it would be this noticable and one more hiccups is that 4k videos on youtube, when i switch to 2160p, it lags and drops fps to 15 to 20, even my og note 7 pro (with sd 675) played better 4k. I don't think these huge cameras will fit with the phone. This chip is weak af, not recommended at all.

Pumpino, 28 Jul 2024We don't know about the quality of the lenses though. ... moreAgreed.
The photos taken from low end Nokia's using Google camera are exceptional for their price segment.
I'm pretty sure they may use a decent set of sensors in this phone (considering it's price, as the notable compromises here are the chipset and lesser OS updates). The X30 wasn't a bad phone camera-wise, as the camera configuration itself is the same as a Samsung flagship base model, albeit the lack of a telephoto camera.
