These scores mean 2 things. Either the sd8 gen 4 will not be manufactured on TSMC's 3NE or that they are not truly related to one degree or the other with the actual sd8 gen4.

I see people in the comments get excited about "oh it is fast , but would it be as energy efficient" , or "but is the jump in performance the same as between x and y".

The upcoming sd8 gen4 will be about as fast and as efficient as apple's m4. Gkbench 6 sc will be anything between 3200 and 3700, probably 3200 in order not to touch Apple's sensitivities and glbench 6 Mc probably about 15k , because Apple does not care about multicore.

An sd8 gen 4 and at 3NE and only 2880 at geekbench 6 , means hugely sacrificing performance in favor of battery life. But I don't see any company lose their sleep about battery.

deftrf, 12 Aug 2024unfortunately if you focus on power efficiency, as AMD did ... moreExactly, either big efficiency improvement or big performance leap, it's real life and not fairytale to have both at once without making the cost go high.

Trev81, 12 Aug 2024they definitely need more investment on battery technology,... moreTBF I argue the fact that we managed to make phones triple amount of power using the same battery and made it last a day is insane

they definitely need more investment on battery technology, what's the point of all that power if the phone dies within a day.

It ca... moreunfortunately if you focus on power efficiency, as AMD did with 9xxx cpus -- you'll get devastating reviews like "nothing special", "at least not intel", "innovation is over", etc etc. despite new cpus delivering the same performance as old ones at almost half the power consumed.

              I love it.Toobad that I can't have it.

Today, The benchmark is 2884 for Single Core and 8840 for Multi Core.

After the Processor is installed on 2025 smartphones. We will be getting.

2600+ to 2700+ Single Core and 6,000+ to 7000+ for the Multi Core. Because the Smartphone vendor underclocked it.

And the only ones that will get the Leading Version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is mostly Selected China's Smartphones. Other smartphones from Samsung, Sony, Xiaomi, asus, oneplus, and other android smartphones.

Yes, more raw power! It can fly to the moon and back. It can boil your water and cook your meals.
I wish to see more focus on battery life. All those benchmark numbers are meant to show the people that the chip is more capable than the competition. 30% more power is not necessarily needed because for instance the 8 Gen 3 is powerful enough for a buttery smooth experience. I wanna see 30% more battery life and have the phone actually last 2 more hours with the screen on. Thay what be a nice thing to have

I don't mind good performance gains but I'd actually like them to show some insane efficiency gains instead of raw performance. I wouldn't mind a smaller performance bump of maybe like 10% or even less but show the power usage and heat generation to be cut in half. The chipsets on these phones are way too powerful already. But then again I guess that's what midrange chipsets are for. I just wish there was a true flagship that used a more midrange chipset in pursuit of efficiency. Something like the S24 Ultra but uses a dramatically more efficient chipset.

Wish to see the tuned performance on Redmagic 10 pro

Seems like one of my comments has angered the sn... moreWell, this could be a fact but, DM9300's sustain performance has always been horrible ranging at only 40-55%+ stability on stress tests due to it using an all X-core based cores.(its not known to be efficient as it focuses on power).

The leaks states that DM9400 will only upgrade 1 ultra core to the new X-925(X5) core, then the 3 remaining will stay as X4 cores. So yeah, SD will definitely beat this in terms of sustained performance.

This actually is armv8 chip. The work for Nuvia cores started a few years ago when armv9 was not available. This CPU is using those cores at their base, that is why it reports armv8.
