Stanley Kubrick, 16 Aug 2024I agree with you that the tech may not be up to par...but a... moreThis is a flagship phone that is made to compete with other flagships, it needs to be good in all the areas, having an under-display camera will ruin its quality by a noticeable amount, and will turn people away, because majority of phone users take selfies. They also can't go with a pop-up camera because users will be scared of it getting damaged. (and yes, I know the 7 Pro uses pop-up cameras)

If the 13 has a micro-curved screen as mentioned, then I might think about it. It's 2024 and they still won't change this stupid trend from Samsung.

Stanley Kubrick, 17 Aug 2024Well the 1 VI does NOT have the narrow screen like the 1 V ... moreI do not recommend changing the system yourself, in theory it should be done by transferring 1 file from PC to phone, but in practice if something goes wrong no one will help you.
As for frequency changes, since OnePlus 8 does not support all US frequencies due to regional locking, they stopped fighting for your market and these frequencies are not available.
I'm not 100% sure but it was like that with previous models so changing the system won't change anything

Stanley Kubrick, 17 Aug 2024Well the 1 VI does NOT have the narrow screen like the 1 V ... moreI'm in the EU and the OP12 CN supported all the bands , so hoping for the same for OP13
Xperia 1 VI is 6.5 inches, 103.7 cm2 (~86.5% screen-to-body ratio) so smaller screen and less screen to body I don't want that but that's just my preference

ua82, 16 Aug 2024Sony Xperia 1 VI has bigger bezels which I don't like ... moreWell the 1 VI does NOT have the narrow screen like the 1 V and before all had.
"buy Chinese version cheaper and flash oxygen"
Does flashing have any effect on the available bands...I'm in the US?
How hard is it to flash it?

A flat screen with micro curvatures is ok. And it will use Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which means it will destroy Pixels in performance and probably Galaxy S25 with Exynos too.
The only question is the camera. It's time for OnePlus to switch to 1"-type sensor.
I am very interested in OnePlus 13.

Stanley Kubrick, 16 Aug 2024I agree with you that the tech may not be up to par...but a... moreSony Xperia 1 VI has bigger bezels which I don't like and not a fan of narrow screen but that's me , I'll be jumping on the OnePlus 13 especially now it's got the micro curve so can use normal tempered glass protectors and it looks flat, hopefully can do the same as OnePlus 12 buy Chinese version cheaper and flash oxygen , main reason I didn't buy the OnePlus 12 was because of the curved screen
My current phone is Xiaomi mi 11 screen is curved really dislike it had it 3 years can't wait to upgrade the battery life difference is gonna be very noticeable

ua82, 16 Aug 2024The technology hasn't improved enough for in display c... moreI agree with you that the tech may not be up to par...but also like you I maybe use the selfie camera once a year???? This is why I currently have the Sony Xperia 1 VI. I know that Sony gets a bad rap for many reasons...some are legit and some are not...and ALL OEM"s have flaws. However Sony does it better than ANY OTHER OEM when it comes to a pristine screen that is truly FLAT with NO hole in the screen!!! No competition here...period...end of discussion!!! I truly like OnePlus phones. I have owned several. If they would hide the hole...at the very least...then I would jump on the 13 without question.

I for one would opt for it because I rarely use selfie camera but I can understand why they still have the hole because the quality is much better and most use selfie cameras daily

What's t... moreWhile I also HATE curved screens, from all the leaks I've seen so far the curves are NOT the typical ski-slopes like we see on the 12 or many other phones. These appear to be very small edge curves that hopefully will not have any negative effect on the display! Now all they need to do is hide the selfie under the display. It's time to STOP with the hole in the screen...to keep doing this makes it look like they have a hole in their heads!

Anonymous, 15 Aug 2024No flat screen for OnePlus again!? So sad, I have to skip again! It's actually rumoured to be micro curved, like the Xiaomi 14 pro , it actually looks flat and can use normal tempered glass protectors

Curved screen edges is a deal breaker for me. What's the point of an edge to edge screen if the edges are completely distorted?
Maybe OnePlus will finally fix Google Voice redirect not working. It has not worked in the last 3 versions of Oxygen OS. Maybe they will also add an option to turn off the obnoxious red "1" on the date/time.
I bought a OnePlus 12 but it had so many anti-features that I returned it and got a refund. OnePlus 13 is not looking any better so far. I am so disappointed...

Anonymous, 14 Aug 2024Ruimed by colorOS. EmUI is only UI from chinese that is... moreColorOS is easily one of the best skins you could get on Android phones IMO. It's smooth like butter thanks to great animations, and unlike Xiaomi's HyperOS or Vivo's FunTouch OS, it doesn't seem to have any particular compatibility or notification issues with certain apps, either. It's a well-designed, feature-rich and most importantly *very* stable skin from what I can tell.

DeepIn2U, 14 Aug 2024AHA! THE X8 Ultra gets the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 over the Di... moreD9400 will highly likely beat 8g4 in both peak performance and power efficiency when it comes to CPU-heavy workload like how D9300 was better than 8g3, just letting you know. While Snapdragon's better modem and connectivity support make it more suitable for devices launched globally (I doubt if X8 and X8 Pro that will use D9400 would be released worldwide to begin with), Dimensity's CPU core design is *arguably* superior due to the complete lack of inefficient "efficiency" cores, and I have no idea why Qualcomm hasn't decided to copy Mediatek's recipe yet.

More and more people are preferring flat screens now. I hope oppo go the vivo route and make an X8 ultra with a flat screen.
