Makes no sense at all. Android is technically "free" to use by any manufacturer. Any manufacturer still can make android phone without google, just like any android phone sold in china.

Monopolies are no joke, they're a serious stain on markets and consumers alike. This is why there's no serious competition in browsers, for example, as Google has abused its market position to make it ridiculously difficult to make non-Chromium-based browsers.

            Competition is good but I don't really think breaking them up would benefit the market though. Especially Ads, they live out of that business, what are they supposed to survive on, YouTube and Google Drive subscriptions? Clearly not enough.

              If someone believes Google will be separated into different companies, then good luck.
              USA is run by companies, they pay the politicians to do what they want.
              If DoJ started this then only because Google didn't pay Democrats enough or paid more to Republicans.

                                  Finally! They should've been broken up 5-10 years ago, but better now than later or never. Google's ad business and Android being broken up from their search business should make each side of the business have less perverse incentives, like how Google Search's quality has gone down over time partially because people pay them to appear on the first page of search; or how sites get shown first more often if they have Google Ads and/or Google Analytics, instead of being ranked based on quality and relevancy.
