jiyen235, 17 Aug 2024large and heavy isn't the issue, flat sides being unco... moreI only stated that S23U is large and heavy; never said it's an issue. And if you hold the phone correctly like I said, you won't feel the flat sides. S23U's sides are still a bit rounded than S23, S23+, A54, A34, iphone 4-5 & 12-15, etc. The flatter sides of S23U makes it easier to hold compared to S22U which is more rounded, as described by many reviews out there. So I think the sides of S23U is a good balance between design, comfort, and grip. Not perfect, but good enough.
The S23U I have now is literally the first Samsung phone I own ever. I bought it after many many many considerations and comparing different makes & models, so I'm not "eating up" anything. Jokes on you.
Also, some people out there consider phones with flat sides is beautiful. It's about personal preference.

I purely love the design of s24u. Never thought that I'll fell so much in love with a phone because of irs designs. Also never ever had an issues with the edge corners of the phone.

jiyen235, 17 Aug 2024exactly! the flat frame on an iPhone is so bad, like just e... moreI've only really looked around on Amazon and Aliexpress, in France since the most sold flagships (and even midrangers) all have flat displays, it's kinda hard finding good curved tempered glass screen protectors... Even on Ali I struggle to find any good ones, aside from a few more expensive UV glue ones that seem to work really well if you're careful while application. If there are actually good options out there then I'm happy they exist, I've been surprised to find good ones for the micro-curved displays all flagships are starting to use so maybe I just didn't find the right ones!
I went with an Iqoo 12 without much regrets at all, truth be told the flat screen was only part of the equation, the price/spec ratio was just really good. For my next phone, in 5 years or so, maybe I'll be okay trying one of those micro-curved displays out! It would open up a lot more options for me!

Samsung created this same problem back with the S6 and it being sharp, then went back with the S7 Edge. They're recreating problems and fixing them. And people like you are eating it up! No wonder they're still getting nice sales even after being complacent.

I held a pixel 7 and an iPhone X/11 Pro, both are super comfy to hold! And it's not just the size man, the awesome curved back is just amazing. I then held an iPhone 14 Pro Max and was like "yuck".
Oh and idk about you but where I live, you can easily find curved glass protectors. They come at a premium but these glasses are super nice, like I'm talking the touch feels as nice as without a protector in some cases, and miles better than a cheap 1 dollar one. A relative installed one and it costed like 16 dollars, kinda expensive but hey man, you got a premium phone and you're installing a premium glass, it was worth it imo, felt great and still going strong after a year. Besides, if we say the glass breaks every year, 16 dollars per year for even 10 years is better than a 500 dollar+ (that's what the display costs in my country!) purchase.

jiyen235, 16 Aug 2024Don't forget the Note20 Ultra and the earlier ones. Th... moreI think the Pixel 8 pro represents the best balance between flat screen and comfortable usage. It allows for tempered glass screen protectors for the people who actively do want to use their phones for 5-7 years, all while offering a greatly designed curved body all around that nicely curves into the display for good gesture use. That's why I am very dissapointed with the Pixel 9 entirely dropping that design and copying Apple's frame

First of all, I think people complaining about the sharp edge of S22U/S23U/S24U are using the phone wrong. The device is large and heavy, and in normal uses it is meant to be held with 2 hands. When using the pen, you'd hold the phone by gripping around the back & sides of the phone with one hand and use the pen with the other. If you hold it the same way as other phones, yes you will feel the sharp edges. I can handle my S23U just fine and never complains about the edges.
Second, the SPen is the reason for Ultra's / Note's wide screen, and vice versa. If the screen is not wide enough, the pen won't be as useful anymore. So there's no point in keeping the Note / Ultra name if they change the screen or remove the pen.

Just found out how good is 9.9x digital zoom on new phone compared to old 10x optical, next one will be awesome.
Hope they will get it right without trying to find "a hack" like 9.9x instead of 10x, BTW is it corrected already or not?
Well, fake raws in expert raw app on older phones are still the same - fake. Irs no fun when they present it like a raw, isn't it illegal 🤷♂️

I was talking about comfort while holding the phone and the S24 Ultra seems like it'll be horrible to hold, since I found the flatter sides of the S23 Ultra to be obnoxious to hold.
I'm not an M person, if I pay a premium for something I want a premium, comfortable experience. If it doesn't have a comfortable experience it better have the best of something else like performance or camera and samsung has neither.

The main gripe I had with the S23 ultra was the flatter sides that made it more uncomfortable to grip. Try holding an S22 Ultra or even the great S21 Ultra and you'll know what I mean.
Boxy design is fine, but a heavy, sharp cornered boxy design is not good. The Note 9's back design and corner design would be damn near perfect I think, sharp enough that it is boxy yet curved enough to not be uncomfy.

Hmm this article exists because we need another article to justify how the next phone has basically no changes from the current phone. What, a 0.5% change in with height and width? After 5 years of 0.5% changes in height and width to prevent people from using phone cases from the previous years, who could have seen it coming?

You speak as if all human have baby arms and small palms to notice every gram they hold. I simply don't feel 300 plus gram and that's holding it for a long time, my palms are too big that I hate small phones, people complain about a phone been too unwieldy yet they still apply a case on it do you know what that takes the whole phone dimension to? Apple hasn't given up on flat sides that was just the titanium effect on the frame. And yes Samsung did copy apple atleast for the s plus because they wanted it to be a flat screen. People complain about screen protectors on curved screen and want a flat screen and when company does that they complain the want the previous one. You can't please anybody.

I Just Read, 17 Aug 2024The body width is 79mm, of which only 72.3mm is the screen,... moreThey just speak what ever.. highest he can say/suppose to say is 1.6mm screen bezels all around. Because the s24 ultra has a thinner bezels than ip14 pro max so I wonder if that one consumed 8.9mm and left 68mm

iH8allFanboys, 16 Aug 2024So basically an iPhone Pro Max…classic Samsung. Yeah no. Way less rounded than an iPhone, it's just a minimal curve to remove the sharp corner that got worse when the screen was turned flat again. My S23 Ultra with a case is way more comfortable than the S24 Ultra when I tested both in comparison.

jiyen235, 16 Aug 2024Don't forget the Note20 Ultra and the earlier ones. Th... moreAs a real user, in my opinion, people say that the S24 is uncomfortable to hold and use. Well, the S24U with its large display is surely designed to be used with two hands, and this is very comfortable to use. I am sure that any brand that has a large display has the same treatment.
Holding and/or using the S24U with one hand may not be comfortable, not because of its design, but because of its weight. For me, the weight is the main reason why the S24U is not comfortable.
The flat display/design or curved one is subjective.
I love the boxy design (and thankfully, it has a flat display too) because it looks professional and timeless.
I just hope that the S24U is the only Samsung smartphone that has a boxy design LOL.
