Wesker, 18 Aug 2024- Overpriced, ridiculous trade-in values yet still 128gb SK... morewhy you care about thermal TH and other non tagble things.
It is smooth and fast period.

What I like about the pixel 9 series:
    1. Smaller Pro version.
    2. Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.
    3. Bump in RAM.
    4. Some improvements in camera sensors.

What I think needs to be improved:
    1. Base storage needs to be 256GB.
    2. UFS 4.x, it's a shame they are still stuck with UFS 3.x.
    3. More software features: Secure folder (a la one UI, not what pixels currently have), improved external display output support, etc.
    4. SoC with better performance and energy efficiency/cooling.
    5. Video quality needs to be improved.
    6. Camera sensors need to be even larger.

    Nice to have:
    1. Make a Fairphone like version of the pixel, with user replaceable battery, screen, etc. with headphone jack and expandable storage.

Anonymous, 18 Aug 2024https://www.theverge.com/2024/8/16/24221755/google-team-pix... moreFor reliably reviews I tend to go to small name YouTubers that bought the phones themselves with their money.

Anyone given a review unit is potentially a shill, nothing more than an ad.

I query your description of a chipset upgrade. The performance of the chip appears worse(AnTuTu benchmark) and the thermal throttling is decidedly worse. For the price now being asked Google has to be more competitive than this.

I want an small phone but not a worst phone so I was only interested in the Pixel 9. I won't buy it.
I'm not willing to spend that money for a phone that is considerable worst than the Pro models.

I rather stick with my Pixel 7 till the battery dies and buy a S24, S25, Sony or even the small Iphone. I don't trust google enough anymore.

Darth Caesium, 18 Aug 2024My hot takes: 1) The Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro should'... moreAdd 8-bit panel to that

                - Overpriced, ridiculous trade-in values yet still 128gb SKUs as obvious decoy products ✅
                - Sub-par chipset, crazy thermal throttling, but no more with a pricing that reflects that ✅
                - Lazy, generic "Apple" redesign with complete removal of the signature frame-shared Visor, added iPhone 5S frame ✅
                - Pixel Fold 2 named "9 Pro Fold" despite having none of the Pixel 9 Pro imagery hardware or features ✅
                - Stale "Apple" color palette with boring colors, no two-tone options ✅
                - Doesn't ship with the upcoming, latest Android version anymore ✅

What an appalling line of products Pixel has become 🤮

                      Ok here‘s my hot take

                      > An August event instead of October makes all the difference

For the normal 95% of people it makes no difference at all, they just buy a phone when they need it

                      > We like the new flat aesthetic

Yeah edges digging into your hand is so great. Our hands are not flat so why should our phones be

                      > But please make all surfaces matte next year

No please don’t, glossy not only looks better but is grippier as well

                      > Making a compact Pixel 9 Pro is bold - but will it work?

Of course it will, it will sell millions like any Pixel so I don’t see a problem. For some perspective, 10 years ago, it would have been bold to make your main flagship this big.

                      > The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is a mature foldable in just its second generation

Yeh but still plastic screen and hinge so it will break after a few months which makes it basically disposable

                      > The Pixel 9 Pro XL is a smart, safe update

Yes a smart safe brick with this huge size. When battery on normal sized phones gets good enough, then people will finally hopefully stop buying these table tennis bats

                      > The new ultrasonic fingerprint scanner is the way to go

Haven’t used any in display Fingerprint so can’t judge. Though the most loved fingerprint scanners on Pixel were ones that were not in the display so we will see how this 2nd gen Qualcomm ultrasonic fares.

                      > The Pixel 9 isn't a small phone like the Pixel 8

Was the Pixel 8 really ever small?

If Apple was selling so few iPhone Pro models, they would have just abandoned them in favour of enticing users to jump to the Pro Max. Since they have not, I think it's safe to say plenty of people prefer a "compact" phone.
Though the meaning of that word seems long lost, and now just means 'screen diagonal in the low 6" ', only making sense when contrasted with the 7" devices we used to call tablets back in the day...

Anonymous, 18 Aug 2024Just because a person wants an expensive phone, dors not me... moreIt's an even bigger waste of money to pay for something and not receiving it at all.

Google is charging the same price for 128GB as other phone manufacturers are charging for 256/512GB.

If you're going to argue "don't pay for what you don't use" then the phone has to actually be cheaper for your argument to have any merit.

Gemini, Siri, Cortana and Bixby were created for lazy people. Not most of us.

Anonymous, 18 Aug 2024Good luck finding another SoC with artificial intelligence,... moreAny of the Snapdragons can do all of that better than Tensor.

It's not the SoC that enables those features. It's just the software. Google isn't releasing the software for other phones, but it doesn't mean other SoCs can't do it better than Google does.

We've already seen this happen with Samsung's Snapdragon phones vs Google. Samsung runs Gemini even better than Google's own phone does.

Anonymous, 18 Aug 2024My opinions on Motorola are that it is like a walking dead ... moreMotorola gives profits to Lenovo.
Motorola is #3 in USA and #2 in Latin America.

Unlike some eastern sub-brands that bleed money and force parent company to cover the loss.

Motorola plans to be top3 in India within 2 years. Does it sound like quiting selling phones?
