ohh boy.... i remember once i purchased Galaxy A52s made in India and when i open the box... the screen had finger prints and back cover became loose after 6-7 months

What many people here don't seem to understand is, with how automated most manufacturing are, the origin country almost doesn't matter. What matters is the quality control, and even Chinese made iPhones had issues in the past with QC (iPhones that were scratched / scuffed out of the box).

What should be scrutinized is, how Apple would handle any QC issues that are found post sales. In most western countries, there are return periods for purchased goods, so no issues as consumers can simply return/exchange the problematic products. The problem with other non-western markets, especially with authorized distributors, usually there are no return policy. All sales are final. Thus any QC issues would be really bad for consumers, especially in markets where the authorized distributors won't honor Apple's own warranty.

I can guarantee you that it would smell much better than your mouth. Also if you don't mind, can you tell your country name? I'm sure you don't even have guts to reveal your country name. India has already been producing smartphones for iPhone and samsung and also exporting some. So its not a new thing. Also its made in India not made in Indian. lol

Byebye iPhone 16 Pro if it isn't made in China, stop deleting my comment I have the right to choose where things I purschase comes from.

I wouldn't know what is historc about iphone manufacturing india.

Indian automobile makers have started selling vehicles in Australian and South Africa. They are behind the curve, surely, but are catching up with China in many fronts. India didn’t have the luxury of copy and paste due to their adherence towards Intellecual Property rights. India is trying to make their own IP or try to pay for it. It will take several years of course matching the China. What India failed in the past 40-50 years, they are trying to undo it in the last 10 plus years.

Indian roads have improved a lot and many are better than western roads. Also not all china is the same which you see online. There r many places which are undeveloped in china too. Also how can u compare roads and bridges with phones? India manufactures much more advanced products such as missiles, automobiles, etc and also exports them. India also has space technology. Then what is a iPhone in front of that? Now don't tell me manufacturing an iPhone requires more expertise than that. BTW even my iPhone and samsung phone both are Indian made and they are running without any problem since last 3 years.

They outsource to mostly asian countries whether china, vietnam, etc and now India. So if they doubt the quality of phones made in India without any reason, then should make it themselves in their country. That's my point. This cheap and expensive labour and pollution is just an excuse.

Quality will go down. Chinese are much better at this... they work to strict standards without cutting corners due to their ability to follow rules. I suspect the factory there will still have Chinese managers etc overseeing

India and quality control do not go hand in hand, look at their roads, their bridges etc,
I would rather pay a little bit more and get it made in China.

This is the reason why China is the ''manufacturing hub of the world'' not India, even though they both have the same population.

Read this posted last year: ''Apple disappointed with quality of iPhone production in India, 50% of casing rejected for not meeting quality standards''

                                https://www.theapplepost.com/2023/02/26/60510/apple-disappointed-with-quality-of-iphone-production-in-india-50-of-casing-rejected-for-not-meeting-quality-standards/

It will probably cost more money to maintain the quality, better just leaving it to be manufactured in China

Anonymous, 21 Aug 2024lmao thinking that the only reason they will assemble iPhon... moreTrue. And I'm an Indian too, a college professor in fact.
Low cost manufacturing is one of the prime reasons why one would come to India, the lax legal environment and the (non existent) data privacy rules (for employees/managers/customers) being the other reasons.

However, Indians can pay enough, not because everyone's income is high (it's not), but because the population is huge, the highest in the world, 1.4287 billion people as recorded in 2021. So, the 14% market being Indian is no surprise.

Finally, considering that India has more import restrictions now than ever before, and huge benefits in local production, it only makes sense to domesticate production where your 14% outflow is.

Apple won't reduce prices in India.
If anything, only the quality/reliability may take a hit if they're not careful in implementing standards.
So, what changes for us, even if I was a genuine iPerson?
