Technologist, 22 Aug 2024Foldable screen on laptop just makes the device too expensi... moreWould you have thought foldable phones be practical or popular? Why carry heavier phones? History shows people go for larger phones that cannot fit easily into jeans pocket. Apple resisted and what happened?
These phones were not cheap, people still buy and if sales not good why so many brands are making and already many years now.

Not surprising. Modern foldables are so prone to failure it's ridiculous. If Apple made a phone with failure rate similar to Samsung Fold people (especially Redmi kids here) would never let it go.

I'm not the Apple fan but, The reality is, people hate Apple because don't makes foldable, but when it makes it, everyone will buy it. Why people don't talk about other brands that don't make Foldables - for example, Realme, Motorola, Sony, LG and Nothing.

A lot of times it's not that Apple don't want to use it, it's more of the component maker's readiness to make the part in huge enough quantities with good yield. Take the LTPO 2.0 panel. Apple waited until samsung can showcase it on the S22 Ultra, then they ordered it for the 14 Pro Max.
