Man what is up with 5x cameras and 24mm main cameras, useless focal lengths.
I hope someday they will make 35mm main camera, maybe 70mm or 50mm tele and 16mm or 20mm uw.
We are now limited to Nubia.

YUKI93, 23 Aug 2024That's why I still miss the days when LG is still in t... moreYou can miss LG all you want; there's a reason why they left the mobile market. All those innovations and unique features don't necessarily translate to sales at the end of the day. Too much innovation and it becomes gimmicky—features that nobody asks for or wants. Blind innovation, just for the heck of it, bleeds money.
Apple just understands this sentiment perfectly, and other brands have started to understand it as well. Once you have a strong footing in the market, incremental upgrades are all you need. Save all the innovations in accordance with the market and release them incrementally, dose by dose, on each iteration. With too much and too fast innovation, the market might not be ready. There's no application that goes with it.

So after Samsung 4K slowmotion, Apple will have 3K 120fps. For comparison Pixel 9 Pro XL slow-mo is capped at 1080 fps. Google. 🤦

Anonymous, 23 Aug 2024" variable zoom" term.does not exist.
If it ... moreomg man we got the grammar police here. My bad if that's the case but everyone just calls those lenses zoom lenses, I just said variable zoom, isn't anything inherently wrong with it.
What IS inherently wrong tho is the fact that you are adamant in saying 135 mm is the best, you do you but it isn't the industry standard, this is a hobby for most and people can use whatever they like.
And additionally, you know nothing about cameras. Focal length doesn't give blur. Wow. I thought you were an intellectual, you're just a 12 year old with no idea what he's talking about. If you're not 12, you haven't developed maturity. There's no reason for you to be aggressive from the start, I thought you knew something I didn't, but it seems you just don't know anything and say random stuff. You've been fed how to think as a kid, I did not. I can think for myself. You might've watched a vid that said 135 mm is the best, I've seen photographers win awards with numerous other focal lengths.
And your argument for 135 being best is just plain wrong. Focal length does not equal to background blur. Next you'll say Megapixels make or break a camera. And that 4k is always better than 1080p or something. Your statement about focal lengths is just as wrong as the two I used.

Capture button sounds very interesting. Interesting to see how it works. Also great that smaller Pro gets same camera, was "forced" to go 15 pro max last year because of the camera upgrade. Now i can think smaller phone again too.

jiyen235, 23 Aug 2024Stop being such a snob. No one is the authority on this. Pe... more" variable zoom" term.does not exist.
If it is zoom lens, obviously has variable range.
Own photographers have elected Sony GM 135 as best lens for it.
It is not my opinion.
Phones have small cameras. 70mm cannot even give bit of background blur unless phone is close to subject, like less than 60cm.
Media has obligation to inform correctly. Stop using " optical zoom" for fixed focal lengths. Stop saying closeups are macro photography.

YUKI93, 23 Aug 2024Even a 48MP camera sensor can easily pull double duty for 2... more2x? Maybe, if the camera has an extremely good 2x cropping technique like the 1 inch sensors. 3x? NO. At least from the results I've seen from all these phones. None of them look that good after 2.5x. Only the Vivo X100 Pro has good 2x+ zooming capabilities and even then, it looks supremely artificial. Take a look at the Honor Magic6 Pro to see how a 200 MP sensor looks even at 2x crop. It looks horrible. Imagine going further, YIKES.

It seems like phones have already reached their peak.
Regular brands (Samsung, Apple) are tied to no 1 inch sensor as long as they want to preserve a sleak design.
Chinese brands can't have more technical specifications since the camera modules are already too big.

Anonymous, 23 Aug 2024Do you know the full frame lens considered best for portrai... moreStop being such a snob. No one is the authority on this. People like different focal lengths. I've seen multiple excellent photographers take award winning shots in 80, 75, 90 mm focal lengths.
Pretty sure that 50-100 mm is the best for portraits and online consensus seems to just stretch that out from 50-100 to 50-135mm.
Mobile tech media can think whatever they want, it's their opinion. You can think whatever you want it's your opinion. Most lenses have variable zoom and that's why people are fine with using longer focal lengths in digital cams. It gives them choice. 120 mm on iPhone is just plain wrong because you get horrible 3x portraits, unusable basically, and have to resort to 5x portraits which are extremely tough in most indoor situations like in restaurants or outdoors in a crowded park somewhere.
The most appropriate range is having 2 sensors between 50-150 mm. The Oppo Find X7 Ultra is perfect for that.

jiyen235, 23 Aug 2024Can anyone tell me who actually needs 5x zoom? When there... moreDo you know the full frame lens considered best for portrait?
Sony 135mm.
Nothing wrong with 120mm on iphone.
Just mobile tech media makes people think 60-80mm is most appropriate range for this, when it's not.
