Wesker, 23 Aug 2024So all the rumors about the thing finally shipping with Ult... moreNot every OEM, Oneplus uses a Sony "stacked" sensor to get some pretty great results. I actually switched from the Fold 5 to the OnePlus Open after testing the Open because the camera was SO good, it actually was pretty close to the quality of my S23 Ultra, it shamed the Z Fold 5.

7.6" to 8" means the cover screen should be wider than the standard Z Fold6. It seems that Samsung does pay attention to its rivals after all. Also, I can totally miss out on the S Pen for Z Fold. It's not as good as using the S Pen on Note or S Ultra phone.

Anonymous, 23 Aug 2024Exactly! We were hoping to see an s pen in a z series Samsu... moreSamsung does styluses a bit different than the other makers. They use (I assume is exclusive deal) "Wacom's digital pen technology". Their pens are passive, do not need to be recharged for them to work as stylus, but need that extra layer.
Every other company uses Bluetooth to communicates wirelessly with the pens (similar to Apple's). And as far as my experience goes a lot of them lack the precision of Wacom pens.
(and need to be charged quite often)

"Rumors claim the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim will be 10mm thick.."
They are trying so hard to make a slim foldable and even naming it slim, yet it will still be thicker than the Honor Magic V3, with way worse cameras.
The supposed "best of the best" can still only offer a useless amount of software updates over the rest of the foldables, that you will never see because people buying these type of phones will either switch away to the next generation, or the phone breaks before it could get these updates.

Just me, 23 Aug 2024Its under display camera. You need large individual pixels ... moreA company as large as Samsung could definitely do better, they just don't want to.

DarlingYext, 23 Aug 2024Yeah, good thing it's only 2014 right now, but Samsung... moreIts under display camera. You need large individual pixels to work. Not as many as you can with individual sizes less than 1µm.
I'm not a selfie guy and under display camera works more than fine for video calls and you still have another selfie camera on the cover screen as well as the ability to use the main camera for selfies.

Why try and make a foldable slim?
That's like fitting a carbon fibre body kit on a London bus.

So all the rumors about the thing finally shipping with Ultra's cameras were just vaporware?
Why every OEM struggle SO BAD into putting actual flagship cameras into foldables?? Do they even try ?

Exactly! We were hoping to see an s pen in a z series Samsung cuz of the wide screen...but look at Samsung removing 0.3mm stylus support film to achieve what the Chinese competitors do without breaking a sweat, the vivo doesn't have a stylus support but i think honor and Huawei have it. But yikes, Samsung being the innovative leader we have to play dumb and keep quiet. As my bros said down in the comments. I think their innovative strategy is charging at 45watt per 2 years to innovate a decent hardware.

Everyone was talking about the stylus support and software being the main reasons for going with the Z Fold6. Now that 50% is going to go away for the Slim, what's the point? The cameras of the X Fold3 compete directly with the Z Fold6 and now the Slim. Both are a similar size and supposedly going to be similar in terms of thickness.
In terms of thinness the Vivo, Xiaomi and Honor foldables all put up a decent fight. In terms of cameras they're easily on par, if not better. If all of them went global and had good stylus support then Samsung would've gotten nuked comparatively but not in the market, because people will buy Samsung, Apple and now Google till the end of time it seems. All we can do now is hope that the stronger competitors are able to survive and continue making awesome phones.

"..unlike the 4MP under-display selfie camera on the Fold6, the Fold6 Slim - having model designation SM-F958N and codename Q6A - may feature a 5MP under-display unit."
That is absolutely revolutionary, gigantic upgrade, I don't even understand how Samsung could manage that in only a couple of years, crazy!
