I get the point on why Huawei and Xiaomi are working on a tri-fold phone since it can give a large tablet screen size with a more normal aspect ratio. But still, I can't always help but think that LG still get the right idea with rollable screen. There's no need to worry on having two screen creases when it's possible to have a seamless screen transformation as LG has already proved years ago.

And people who complain about the price don't understand that usually the best features from the best phones go down to lesser phones as well and if demand is high enough we get lesser options for those types of phones. In display fingerprint scanners being a prime example.

I always thought a Z-shaped folding device made a lot of sense.
Instead of having 2 screens, of which you only use one at a time, have 1 big screen and just use 1/3 or all of it. Also, the full screen size would actually rival tablets properly.

we need more companies working on experimental stuff like this and see which sticks. We got foldables out of companies always experimenting, we got bezel-less modern day screens out of companies experimenting, heck I'd say we got smartphones out of experimentation. The original iPhone was the same as a Vision Pro, another type of product that Apple wants to tap into. Hopefully we get some kind of "reasonable" tri fold that's big but costs around the same as normal folds. That'll lead to normal foldables being cheaper and would push flip phones to be as cheap as a base iPhone or a base Pixel/Samsung. That'd be cool if companies create a new market segment and it's genuinely good.

I'm sure that Samsung also working on something similar. At the end, they phones have Z in name, because they bend in two places...

xiaomi s mid range phones are cheap and rich in
feature s and they are a step behind zte in terms
of innovation and i hope infinix will be in the big3

Shouldn't it be called as "Bi-Fold" Device ? I mean it is folding two times with Three Displays side.
