Simple question, online or offline hack?

If the hack is online hack (let's say Nohl hacks sumbody elses' SIM from remote places), than that's a serious problem.

Otherwise has nothing to do with us:P
Anybody including You can do it easily.

It's all about how he get's the key for those messages to be accepted, not the actual capabilities (that were long ago specified) for those who always had the key.

Hi,friends.Whether the given information of Mr.Snowden is right or wrong,a first lesson a private in the army learns is that, all countries collect all kinds of information in the peacetime even from their closest allies for the security necessities!!!?But one important question here remains unanswered!?Is it legal or illegal in Germany or the other countries to hack people,s simcards and have access to the privacy and impermissable data of people illegally!!!?I,ll be happy and grateful,if any of our knowledgeable friends answers my question to solve this problem!!!?Thank you kindly and sincerly!

This issue might be blown by the CDMA group to eliminate the use the SIM card and impose to return to the days when customer data programmed directly into the device.

This is NOT a hack. Mobile Providers could send special SMS to manipulate sim card parameters. One of them is to bypass some installation alerts remote. Example: To update a security fix of the sim. So, Karsten, just use this sms which is OFFICIALLY listed on the gsm official papers. Works on DES, as DES is a very old algorythm. So, practically karsten is showing a 10 years ago discovery. Nothing new. Just good marketing to promote something already discovered.

German cryptographer Karsten Nohl claims to have broken the encryption standard on certain types of SIM cards. The exploit could allow a virus to be uploaded and then carry out payment system fraud, redirect and record calls, and more. Nohl says that cards which are affected vary by country and.

This is extremely OLD news. SIM cards with DES are very rare and outdated. Moreover, now sims have fingerprint protection, so any mobile provider could detect if sim is valid or a clone. Nowadays sims are 3DES protection. So, this information is completely nothing related to security. It is extremely old news. 10 years ago news.
