Qualcomm silently introduces Snapdragon 6 Gen 3

02 September 2024
The chipset is just like the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 but with underpowered efficiency cores.

Samsung need to kill exynos right off only use SD and bring back 6.4 size compacts to lead again

Snapdragon aren't doing anything for the budget and midrange. It's a disaster. No manufacturers seem to want to use their chips because they've seem to have become so expensive. It's destroyed the whole market.

The budget and mid range aren't asking for much. Just a modest performance bump to stop all the stutters and so apps can load in a bit faster. We're not asking for 8 gen 2s to be put into budget phones.

Anonymous, 02 Sep 2024So buy a flagship and enjoy. Better value for long run.Indeed, it takes around 5 years for midrange chips to reach performance levels of the flagship chips from 5 years ago 😜 Many midrange chips like 7300 or 7200 Dimensity still bearly surpases cpu levels of performance of flagship Exynos chipsets like 9820 from 2019 galaxy S10 and falls short in GPU performance 😁 Dimensity 7350 is the one to rival 5 years old flagship chipset, and you know Exynos not Snapdragon 🤣

Anonymous, 02 Sep 2024You may not need a flagship. Poco F6 will do just fine. 🙂No thanks. Already bought Samsung S24 Plus. Running fine. Aside from slower charging everything is fine.

Qualcomm messed up the naming sequence just like Mediatek , Back in the days we had 400, 600 , 700 and top end 800 series Soc

potato4k, 02 Sep 2024They are all basically the same 6gen1. This is a sham. Qual... more-They are only soc maker who use Cortex X in midrange ( 8s gen 3, 7+ gen 3 and 7+ gen 2)
-they are only soc maker who use Cortex A720 in midrange
-they are only soc maker who use Cortex A78 in lowend

That sd 6 gen 1 for more than a year now is only soc with Quad A78 at lower price point, you can get phones as low as $170 with that soc.

ashrobb, 02 Sep 2024Oh hi, I imagined you would be here since you can't ta... moreMy evidence

                          1. From company themselves
Qualcomm themselves they said 8+ gen 1 is 10% more perfomace and 30% more efficienct than 8 gen 1. These soc are identical right? So it means Tsmc 4nm (n4p) has 10% perfomance advantage and 30% more efficient compare to Samsung 4nm (4lpx)

Tsmc themselves said 4nm (n4p) has 10% more power and 22% more efficient than Tsmc 5nm, and 5nm is 10% more efficient and 10% than Tsmc 6nm.

                          So let's do match
                          1 x 1.1 x 1.1 = 1.21
                          1 x 1.1 x 1.22 = 1.34

So Tsmc n4p is 21% more powerfull than Tsmc 6nm and 34% more efficient

Same Tsmc n4p is 10% more powerfull and 30% more efficient than Samsung 4lpx

So data from company themselves shows Samsung 4nm is slightly better or at worst have equal efficiency to Tsmc 6nm and may provide boost in perfomance at same clock speed (I will prove it later on.

                          2. From Geekerwan vcurve
I believe this I showed you more than 2 times now and from some reason you ignore it, Vcurve of 4 gen 2 is same as D900, D920, 4 gen 1 and slightly inferior to 695. This show no much difference from those manufacturing process

                          3. From benchmarks
If you look at benchmarks 4 gen 2 has better single core perfomance than D920 and 900, both use Cortex A78 while D900 and 920 have superior clock 2.4 and 2.5ghz but still they lost to 2.2ghz. This explain that 10% from 1st point.

                          That is Samsung 4lpx, 6 gen 3 use 2nd revision 4lpe, Exynos 1480 use 3rd revision 4lpp and E2400 use 4th revision 4lpp+, so definetely 6 gen 3 will be better than Tsmc 6nm.

Show to me your evidence, that Tsmc is better than even 4lpp+ like your previous claim.

They are all basically the same 6gen1. This is a sham. Qualcomm literally only pays attention to the 8 series now. They are neglecting everything else.

Mediatek started using TSMC 5nm node in their 8000 series (A78 based) 2.5 years ago. That's why we have seen 5nm/4nm in many more products since then and can expect to see it in future launches.

Qualcomm has only used TSMC 5/4nm processors with the ARM9 architecture. At this late juncture, I doubt it is going to undertake the effort to port A78 chips to TSMC fab.

Again, you're wrong. Or halfway wrong. I proved you wrong months ago pulling the data from your favorite site socpk. 4nm LPE just isn't a match with TSMC 6nm.

Now, maaaybe the latest 4nm LPP+ can be on par with TSMC 6nm. But that one is only used in a couple Exynos chips and the latest Tensor, which by the way, is going to TSMC next year. Maybe the progress came too late.
