02 September 2024
The chipset is just like the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 but with underpowered efficiency cores.

This will smoke dual A715 any day and will be much cheaper, look at Dimensity 7200 and 7300 situation. D7300 even though it has 4 big cores you can find it under $200 while D7200 with just 2 x A715 is no where around that price point.

Only thing can think of is improve coding

Strelock, 02 Sep 2024*sighs*...... honestly the silver lining would have been qu... moreThere was not much point moving to an entirely new node for an A78 based mid-range processor. There was no high-end processor in Qualcomm portfolio which was based on A78 and used TSMC 4nm.

Anonymous, 02 Sep 2024Why didn't qualcomm use 4lpp/+?Not sure, I could only speculate. They moved their high end (8 series) and upcoming top midrange stuff (7 series) out of Samsung fabs anyway. Not even the improved node was enough to keep them as a customer for their best processors, specially when TSMC's 4nm node has reached maturity and seems to be cheaper than it was a while ago.

I dont get why dont they rebrand these SD 8 gen 1, 8+ gen 1 and 8 gen 2 to something 7 series and have this 7+ gen 2 be rebranded to 6 gen 3

SD 4, 6 and 7 are basically staying still in performance for who knows how long with all the renaming of the chips while performance dont get better.

7+ gen 2/3 are the most weird chips that are basically made for like 2 brands only that use them on only 2-3 phones
