Samsung Galaxy S25 to only use Snapdragon chips, Fold7 and Flip7 get Exynos 2500

02 September 2024
That would be an interesting change of strategy.

If S25U is again 1400€ then the only thing that will happen is the same as with S24U. It's being given for free with contracts around, because the price in store is laughable.
And that means the money from carriers, which Samsung gets are around 600 or less...

All this talk in general is utterly useless. I have never experienced that a Pixel would feel slower than any phone with a SD in normal real life usage. As long as everything is fluid, I couldn't care less about what brand my SOC is.

And for gaming I use my PC or PS5. No phone will ever give the same gaming experience.

This comment section thinking the average consumer even looks at what chip is powering thier phone is the funniest thing.

"It will ruin them!" "Its marketing suicide"
No, they will sell millions either way.

That is indeed a weird yet interesting strategy. Samsung could've put Exynos on all flagship models or done the same as in 2023 by putting Snapdragon SoC on every flagship phone.

Really though what's wrong with you? I have to explain everything to you like you're 5. Phones are released in a yearly cycle right? So Oppo took a year long gap from that, in other words they went from yearly release to bi-yearly release. They took around a year to release a phone and then they took a year long gap from that. THAT'S what I meant. Jeez man you're annoying.

Mediatek on the other hand provides the same, if not better efficiency, that's why phones with a flagship Mediatek chip have great battery life.

My point is, although Exynos isn't as bad as Tensor, both are bad as consumers are being sold worse products at a high price.

Here's my take on the best processors per category and per my experience as both competitive mobile and PC gamer:

                      - AMD Ryzen 5,7,9 / RTX GPUs for PC Gamers (efficient and optimized better for games)
                      - intel i5-i9/RTX & AMD or intel Arc GPUs for Editors and Graphic designers
                      - Snapdragon 8Gen Series chips for flagship Androids (except 888 and 8gen1)
                      - Dimensity 8000 Series for premium midrange
                      - Snapdragon 7+GenX or 8sGenX for premium flagship killers
                      - Dimensity 7200 and up or Unisoc T820 for midrange to lowend devices

This is why Samsung has been using Snapdragon exclusively on their foldables since day 1. Believe me, if they switched to Exynos on their most premium product, it will be a marketing suicide.

If they were to use Exynos, it would be on the rumored FE models, not on their main flagship ones. Their 6th gen are already not selling as well as they expected. It would be extra dumb if Samsung did a marketing suicide, especially with the Chinese foldables getting more and more traction.

It's interesting to see Samsung going all-in with Snapdragon for the S25 series! I think it's a smart move if they want to ensure consistent performance across all markets. It does make me curious about the Exynos 2500, though. If it's going into the Fold7 and Flip7, maybe Samsung is confident that they can finally deliver a solid Exynos experience for the foldables. Hopefully, we see some great optimization and performance improvements—exciting times ahead!
