Samsung Galaxy S25 to only use Snapdragon chips, Fold7 and Flip7 get Exynos 2500

02 September 2024
That would be an interesting change of strategy.

It's interesting to see Samsung going all-in with Snapdragon for the S25 series! I think it's a smart move if they want to ensure consistent performance across all markets. It does make me curious about the Exynos 2500, though. If it's going into the Fold7 and Flip7, maybe Samsung is confident that they can finally deliver a solid Exynos experience for the foldables. Hopefully, we see some great optimization and performance improvements—exciting times ahead!

Oh I doubt that. Gonna wait the day of release. Until then, I dont believe Samsung will only use snapdragon

Exynos is a death sentence for the Fold/Flip series

"Unless Samsung does some magic that Exynos 2500 is superior to Qualcomm's Oryon cores, which is highly unlikely."???
SD8 Gen 3 uses X4, A720, A520, cortices, these same are all faster than in Exynos 2400

        Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is a holding name (4 following 3)
Only if it remains a 4nm SoC will the name survive

If it improves to a 3nm SoC will the name change and / or Oryon.
Yields aside a 3nm 2500 will be a vast improvement over the 2400

In October the latest Qualcomm Flagship SoC will be announced and only then will we see the improvements over Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Apple btw already uses a 3nm process, this with the faser clock speed than on Android.
I think Apple will just go with a "limited" up tick

In November Mediatek will scheduled to release the latest Dimensity.
It's all connected Qualcomm next flagship will come with increased prices.

Exynos 2500 needs to be as good as snapdragon 8gen4 otherwise it'll ruin the foldable line.

Oryon looks good but mediatek with stacking X4 chips also works so I wonder how much better the customer cores are.

Mediatek has great mobile chips and AMD has been killing it for years now with Ryzen chips. I hate people who insist on brands because of the brands even when they are making garbage products or mediocre ones at best. Maybe Qualcomm isn't there, but Intel certainly is. AMD's offerings are performing about the same and sometimes better with way lower power consumption. Not going with AMD is literally insane.

Spoiler: Nope, no Exynos for Fold or Flip regular series, maybe an FE series will appear along the S25 FE.

Issue? now the price difference will be noticeable: SD series would be USD 150 to USD 200 more expensive. The processor cost as much as a Desktop CPU, which is hilarious. Exynos could take advantage by not increasing the cost.

Its all about production cost! Samsung can offer better prices for devices with Exynos chips, considering foldable devices are already too expensive to make, they will be unsalable if they use 8 Gen 4 inside em!
