Weekly poll: is the Motorola Edge 50 Neo the small phone to get?

03 September 2024
It's not the smallest, but it is smaller than most. Plus, it offers some premium features, despite its mid-range price. And some not-so-premium features, of course.

    "Battery below 5000mAh? No buy."
    "I can't live without less than 7000mAh"

Slow down, people. There's life outside your smartphone.

I can understand that some think that 4310mAh is below the standards, but the whole set of specs compensates for that, I believe.

Seems to me Samsung's midrangers have potato grade cameras. I'm ready to try something different. The Neo rates in my list, as it is the 'smallest' brand name phone on GSM [unihertz doesn't exist on gsm; we keep alcatel, micromax, lenovo in the menu box of featured brands even though they haven't released a phone in 2 or more years]
Unihertz may be only 'innovating' backwards but their unusual form factor phones deserve at least as much coverage as HMDs also-rans [no fewer than four articles on a barbie phone but zero articles on the Jelly Max]

RandomX, 03 Sep 2024Still too big. Dimensions should be under 140mm h, 68mm w.That's just wishful thinking. But it'd be fantastic if true

Then both would be equal, except screen size.

There are many reports of overheating, it could be linked to the thinner design not allowing better air to circulate in the internals.

Beautifully designed phones but with heating issues. Samsung, Google, and Apple are suppose to be making their next line of flagships thinner which worries me that these same issues will arise.

Imo I prefer this motorola thin design than any of the phones from Samsung, Google, and Apple.
Oppo Findx7 also has this beautiful slim design, other Chinese brands do too.

nice specs ... but the price : it's too high ! should not be over 300 bucks (since it's a plastic phone no matter what SoC is inside)

RandomX, 03 Sep 2024Still too big. Dimensions should be under 140mm h, 68mm w.That would be an aspect ratio of 18:9
Devices in 2018/2019 had that ratio and I doubt we'll see a comeback in the near future.

For people like me who want a cheaper Samsung S23 (don't care about flagship performance) the 50 Neo is just too big.
And for those who don't care much about the size the Neo is too expensive for its low performing CPU which you can find in 250€ phones like the CMF1.

Well phone is perfect for its price and specs althought there are better midrangers out there and also the bigger ones.
6.3 inch is a hobbit phone good for hobbits, dwarfs, sprouts, liliputs, pixies and other small living beings.
Ideal phone would have 6.9 or bigger like upcomming 16 Pro Max.
Phones small like this have small t tiny battery and specs, tiny cpus and gpus, tiny memories, tiny cameras and tiny everything else.
Reading from or typing on a tiny screen is a horribly bad experience i wouldnt want to experience again.
Glad the era of phones like Samsung Galaxy young and smaller is out.
Litterary anyone who want to buy something easily lost or overlooked because of tiny size can buy Oukitel K16 or Unihertz Jelly star.

well 6.3 inches is not compact but there are hardly any options to choose from

But at least this phone isn't a glass sandwich POS like the S24 is

Battery too small compared to the size of the smartphone, x3 optical zoom limited to 10 MP. The Realme 13 Pro + seems to me a better alternative
