The peer review process is fairly grueling and competitively challenged. The biggest issue today is that like with every industry in our world, it has become political so sometimes bias influences in nuanced ways.

TL;DR version: nope. Peer reviews aren't as trustworthy today as they used to be.

If the research lab has a reputation and they want to publish the findings in peer-reviewed journals, they cannot afford being seen bought and have to come up with well-supported results.

Closest thing in android world is Fitbit/google. Everything else is just a mixbag, either HR accurate but garbage sleep or good sleep but mediocre HR
