theRajeshV, 04 Sep 2024On-die memory is not the same as soldered memory. Its not on die, but on package.

LOL, 20+ hour battery life? Sure, maybe with the monitor turned off, no wifi or any internet connection, no peripherals attached, And the machine turned off. Aka standby time

Any Intel laptop I've encountered only last maybe 4 to 5 hours max on real life regular productivity usage. Maybe 6 to 8 at best for non continuous usage. 20 sounds more like BS.

Any sources for that « there’s no upside to integrated ram » ?
Sounds like you are talking out of your a*s

Nice of them to provide core voltages in the product name.

The performance "benefits" are inferior to cost and inconvenience. And it produces more e-waste since you have to buy a new machine every time the current one lags behind.

NotAFanB0Y, 04 Sep 2024Now AMD processors will have no advantage... Previously ... moreDon't underestimate what competition can force companies to do

I love that that direct advantage is gone now both companies have to think outside the box

                    Better for us consumers

JoshB, 04 Sep 2024Intel's solution is much more integrated than the usua... morePrices are lower. For the manufacturer. Who said they'll pass the savings on to you? They'll hike the price instead because they now have to SOLDER the ram instead of haphazardly inserting it.
Oh, and because you can't replace the ram and you're stuck with the soldered one, they can just hike the price on "more ram" variants. Because what will you do to upgrade? UNSOLDER it? HAHAHA!

Remember: you'll own nothing and be happy about it! We're about half way there!

Like the AMD Ryzen AI 300 PCs, these will be much more expensive than ever before.
The benefits of NPU, which are the cause of the price increase, are still unclear.

This is beneficial because it allows Intel to focus on the power and speed optimizations. Having less exposure to the elements also increases longevity, and prices should also be lower because there is no middleman (i.e. the laptop OEM).
As long as the capacities are fine, and we avoid the "Apple tax" scenario, there is a net benefit to be had for the end user.

P.s. And if you ask me, Framework is a market anomaly, albeit a welcome one.
