Anonymous, 10 Sep 2024All of a sudden so MUCH love for Sony and their Xperia phon... moreBecause tech media and influencers only talk these things up when Apple does them. The reason Xperia users are pointing it out is because suddenly now every guy and their dog thinks these features are cool and "innovative" when no one cared previously. Worse, they actually criticized the features half the time.
One year, the media and influencers are all saying "buttons" are dead, because Apple said that buttons are bad, now that Apple changed directions, the media and influencers are saying the opposite.

Seriously, I don’t care about whether or not apple did it first, I’m more concerned about if I put a case on it, the feature will no longer work. Especially rugged cases. I’m surprised that no one mentioned this.

With Apple introducing an extra button, Android phone manufacturers will copy it fast & things will finally start making sense. We have been forced to accept minimalism for far too long now. Useful features have been cut down.

Omg a dedicated camera button! As a guy who has been collecting phones for 10 years I've never seen such a thing!
(Opens drawer, peeks at a Nokia 5300, N85, N95, N96, N73, LG KU990i and Sony Xperia Z3 and closes at again)

Jeez guys, at least keep it subtle? Obvious shilling is obvious. As a phone blog you should know that Apple wasn't the first to add a physical button for something like this. There is a reason why 99.9% of the phones on the market use digital controls for the camera apps, because it just works.
But here comes Apple regressing back and calling it innovation and you people lap it up and start singing praises for the right amount of $$$.
