Samsung to lay off 10% of its workforce in India amid a factory strike crisis

About 200 people are being terminated following poor consumer demand while in the same time a strike by factiory workers has its Chenai plant in standstill.

Guess production costs are quite a bit higher in India compared to China. Probably going to increase investment in china. Lower costs means higher profits and that's what shareholders care about.
And what about those 200 fired employees? Nobody cares. Upper management gets millions plus bonus payments. Nobody says no to more money. We are living a world where few people have way too much money for living and way too many people just having enough money to stay alive. It's an unfair world.
I feel sorry for the 200 workers and their families :(

          This article is not correct.

          From the second source linked
          "The lay-offs will happen in mobile phones, consumer electronics, home appliances and support functions. This will be around 9-10% of its total managerial workforce of 2,000-odd executives."
          So 200 people from management and not global workforce, which didn't originally make sense to me, that only 2000 people could generate $12 billion.

            I am so happy for Scam-Sung!This is just the beginning,Samsung should learn to bring inovations and not Apple copy paste products,year by year the same design with small upgrades but a higher price!My last Scamsung was S24U despite I have been a Sammy fan for at least 10 years argue alot with Apple fans!No more Scamsung,now Honor Magic 6 Pro with better inovations and the right price!!!

              At least they are attempting to resolve the protest but... yeah. Not really a good look for Samsung.

                  The strike itself might not affect smartphone production but temoving 200 people might affect the smartphone business in general, as it would definitelty lead to some reshuffling in Samsung India's top levels.
