Huawei's tri-foldable is the first of its kind - but is it too big? Here are the first impressions from the new foldable flagship coming out of China.

It seems absurd and impractical me. Yadda yadda oh so innovative, I get it. In the end the question that remains is, who is the target audience?

    US is hurting itself by banning Chinese innovation in US soil (both mobile and EV markets) and playing protectionist role instead of capitalist role.

            The resolution at present is 1008x2232 when closed and 3184x2232 when opened. Let's play with the height while keeping the width constant.

            If we want to have a 18:9 display when closed, the vertical resolution would be 1008*18/9 = 2016, and therefore we would end up with a 3184x2016 display when open (1.58:1). The final screen size when unfolded would be around 9.9".

            If we want to have a 19:9 display when closed, the vertical resolution would be 1008*19/9 = 2128, and therefore we would end up with a 3184x2128 display when open (~1.5:1). The final screen size when unfolded would be around 10.0".

            The latter implementation would seem more likely, I guess.

It's unfortunate, but now we know why the US banned Huawei back then. I mean we can see how they advances even with the ban. Imagine where they are without the ban.

                    Dang, $2800. Now all those pretenders can no longer flex with their iPhone Pro Max. 🤭

                        Need at least 3 years warranty for the display because it's all plastic.

                          They just showed how backwards ALL other manufacturers are compared to them. I would release it to the whole world (global version) just as a "We are the best" advertisement 😀.

                            Use it open. Isn't argument used here to bash and demand samsung to give better camera for inner screen instead of the vga quality of its UDC?

                                      It's obvious this is just the first of it's kind, from here this tech might get improved to a point where it can actually be purchaseable. The concerns come of course from durability. Now we have to worry about not only one hinge, but two.of them and also an exposed screen edge (the case seems to have a protective side for that though). Also the screen isnt glass and relies on a plastic pritector which undoubtedly will scratch easily and has to be replaced often. But I like that this thing exists and that manufactures (not you Apple) are trying new form factors and actually pushing tech further
