This includes flash chips. They may represent decimal values to end users, but that has no bearing on their native functionality.

This is to show a higher number for example in decimal a kilo is 1000 whereas in binary it is 1024. This is just a marketimg gimmick. Our computers and phones, on the other hand, detect using the binary system. So your 128gb phone is never really binary-128gb but decimal-128gb which is a little less.

Interesting todays 1TB SSD cards or disk cost as much as 64 Megabytes cards 30 years ago.

It represents a shift from the prefix “giga” or billion with the prefix “tera” or trillion. Terabits are often contrasted with terabytes, which is a term for 1 trillion bytes, each of which is made up of eight individual bits."

So whilst BINARY would have 128 Gb in order to surpass 1 trillion. 1TB = 125Gb

Slight nitpick: 1 terabit is 128 gigabytes, not 125. Flash chips use base 2 bytes, not the base 10 hard drives use. An end user device might show 1000GB, but the hardware will be 1024GB, and the extra 24 GB go to overprovisioning.

QLC is usually considered a downgrade to TLC, because speeds are slower when the cache is used up and because it has a much shorter lifespan. Upside is that it is cheaper. I haven’t used QLC so I can’t attest to the longevity disadvantage. Maybe there are sources who tested it.
