Pixel 9 Pro Fold snaps in durability test

That's why I'll keep rocking the original Pixel Fold. I like it's heft. I could probably break it in half also if I really wanted to but the scenarios where this would happen would all be intentional.
The waterproof and heat test are much more important. I dropped my Pixel in a steam will at work, almost 200° F, It took about six minutes for it to turn off and five minutes in a walk-in cooler to start back up and it was like nothing happened.
I know it's personal preference but they need to move away from these candy bar designs and go a little wider. If they did they could actually design it for structural integrity, but then company would lose planned obsolescence so we won't see that.

I mean, Samsung or other foldable phones didn't snap like brisket during the same test.
That sounds like a Google structural problem, not Jerry's.
Phone snapping and getting the headlines have actually made companies create more structurally sound phones. So I think it should continue to get the headlines so we don't see closer to $2k snap like a twig in the future.

Man Or A Monster, 16 Sep 2024Maybe it's because his tests are closest to real-life ... moreI am not arguing about the test as whole (even though one could argue that holding a lighter to a screen is hardly a normal real life scenario), BUT the issue is that the main part of the video is the snapped device, which also makes headlines and which inevitably makes the device look fragile (thus, heavily affecting the sales), even though a similarly durable device could get a pass if Zack does not try too hard. This is why I think it's morally dubious to not use any standardized equipment.

Of course I'm in favor of the opinion that his durability tests are not true to life tests. I would like to ask the other commenters; how many of you had his phone snapped into halves?
I would comfortably say none of my relatives or friend had his phone, whatsoever , snapped into halves. Of course some of them shattered the glass back or screen, had dents on the frame or loose button or switch. These are the usual mishaps to our devices. I recall using Xiaomi 5 as my daily driver in the field of construction and it lasted 3.5 years despite it snapped into halves in his durability test.

Anonymous, 16 Sep 2024whoever cares for Jerryrig destruction "tests" sh... moreActually what he does is a practical guidance into knowing how your phone does in extreme situations, or what phone to buy and for what purposes. Bending then braking does not mean you should not buy the device. It means "be carefull how you use it, it will brake if you force it to hard".

Vegetaholic, 16 Sep 2024You are silly trying to defend crappy companies, last time ... moreJerry even said it in his video that such phones have been broken like this and it very common, this is new phone and its even thinner, yes it failed but the chance of this happening in real life is low since you would need some huge jacked guy literally trying to break it by applying force in the other direction, also Fold 6 caught on fire on his video when removing display, you choose which is better, I would rather see my phone be snapped like this rather than catching on fire. I doubt people are buying such phones for such price for the purpose of using in harsh conditions, if Jerry would be even more jacked we would see more phones being destroyed, if you want it scientific then you should get a force meter so that the test doesn't have such variable of if Jerry feels strong today, not to mention the grib matters.
