HMD Skyline brings its Lumia looks to India

If we look at the HMD Skyline and compare it to any other midrange or even budget phone on the market, the Skyline is clearly worse value for the money. However, you could make the argument that the appeal of this phone isn’t its specs or its value, but rather the means by which it was produced and will be used. It’s relatively repairable, HMD won’t sell your data, and it’s produced in factories where workers are paid a living wage. But when we look deeper, this argument starts to fall apart. Like all phones, the Skyline has a battery. The materials that the battery is made of have to come from somewhere, and that somewhere usually involves slavery. HMD does sell refurbished phones, but that doesn’t change the fact that the Skyline will eventually reach the end of its life cycle. HMD’s poor track record with software support combined with a slow processor on the Skyline means that this phone probably won’t last longer than 3 years. A much better option that uses less of Earth’s resources, isn’t produced in poor working conditions, and will last a long time is buying a refurbished flagship phone that’s depreciated over the last few years.

r.why.me, 17 Sep 2024INR 36k. And for a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 at that.
INR 29k-... moreIt's simply the European method of pricing. They ask for a high initial cost, only to drastically discount their products later. Take a look at European market vehicles.
What makes these phones rather compelling is that they have less recurring/repair costs and significantly better optimization, unlike most other ODM phones.
They could've used the decoy approach like all other brands for pricing. It may highly benefit from sales, but definitely wouldn't sound "sustainable" in every form of the word.

As expected from HMD/Nokia, simply overpriced. Should be in the range of around 30k.

BandedKing, 17 Sep 202435k for this? Lol.
I was a huge Nokia fan back then, had ... moreINR 36k. And for a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 at that.
INR 29k-33k can get you a Samsung Galaxy A35 or a Motorola Edge 50 Pro. Both of those are better value for money (yes, even the Galaxy) and they come with much higher IP ratings. And then you have the other options within the same price class: Readme GT6T, OnePlus Nord 4, Oppo's Reno series, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ and upcoming 14 series.
Also, you have SD 7s Gen 2 offerings from other brands that cost way less, such as the Edge 50 Fusion (and it comes with IP68) and Redmi Note 13 Pro.

Wow What A Pricing.....
You get 8s Gen 3 & 8 Gen 2 phones at this price point & HMD is crazy thinking if they can sale it at 35999 INR . The phone should be priced under INR 20000 to get actual right competition & choices.

Good luck selling it in India. You can basically get s23 or pixel 8 under 40k this Diwali sale. Should've focused on cpu and OS updates more than on pink colour.
