Jango5, 17 Sep 2024single core performance is actually a better on the a18 pro... moreDo you honestly believe that a single core is used for basic tasks? Multiple cores are used more or less intensively, that's how it works. If only one core was used, we would have stayed with the single core like 15 years ago

Yeah, 8 gen 4 will be killer of all the chipsets in multi core, but will be trashed by A18 pro in single core, meaning it will perform better, as entire iOS or Android eco system relies on single core performance, though sounds like 8 gen 4 GPU will trash them all 😊

jerem06, 17 Sep 2024Are you kidding me? The current average on Geekbench for th... moresingle core performance is actually a better on the a18 pro, which is more important than multi core for simple tasks like web browsing, gaming and simple phone tasks, if you're editing a video or doing heavy stuff on the phone that's the only time multi core takes the lead

IpsDisplay, 17 Sep 2024If mediatek beat qualcomm in benchmarks People: all they... moreMediatek makes good CPU's but sometimes you just gotta be real, the dimensity 9300 was a new design it used 4 arm cortex X performance cores instead of 1 and ofc as their first implementation the chips overheated and used weren't so efficient, i'm sure they managed to optimize them with this new release but it's not on the level on qualcomm, the x elite are good processors and they've proven that the acquisition of nuvia was a good investment and i can't wait to see it implemented into the gen 4

A5x cores are just decoration, no need for them to exist at this point.

People: all they care about are high benchmarks efficiency matters!!
Mediatek is slightly lower that Qualcomm in benchmarks
People: they are falling behind they need to catch up
🤷🏾♂️

rizki1, 17 Sep 2024yeah, the screen supplier could be influential too... but t... moreBattery tests are very inconsistent depending on the test used. Lots of the Chinese reviewers have develooed standardized battery tests but comparing the rankings from one reviewer to another you always find inconsistencies due to their different methodologies. Also some manufacturers automatically di the screen even in manual mode when it's set to a certain brightness whereas others don't so it's hard to get a like for like result. Having said that from the Chinese rankings overall it does seem like Honor, Vivo and Nubia consistently perform a bit better than the other Chinese brands battery wise

Hemedans, 17 Sep 2024All those phone you mentioned for the exception of Nothing ... moreok then, Vivo V30, Oppo Reno 12, low end Galaxy A15 (if not mid range), Camon 30 Pro, Pova 6 Pro and many others and of course this isn't a flagship SoC downgrade, right? and all these phones without LTPO tech which really helps battery life, imagine if this used LTPO.
That means we don't need a GSMArena battery test if we use that method because we use the phone day to day like on YouTube tests, right?

About Xiaomi you can't use two different methodology and compare them, to see if Gsmarena test is not true reviewer should use same methodology, browsing which actual touch screen, Stream video etc.

Aierlan, 17 Sep 2024Xiaomi 14 has a smaller screen and it's an LTPO screen... moreyeah, the screen supplier could be influential too... but the Xiaomi battery life is not as bad as in the GSMArena test... on YouTube they get a lot of good battery life, even 10:30h Redmi Note 13 Pro beating iPhone 15 which GSMArena got 13:20h, this is on the Lover of Tech channel.

rizki1, 17 Sep 2024no, Realme GT 6T, Nord 4, Nothing etc have good battery lif... moreXiaomi 14 has a smaller screen and it's an LTPO screen which is more efficient. The resolution is also just what they call 1.5k in China so it should be fairly efficient. I think battery drain is biggest difference between the Xiaomi 14 and other much cheaper 1.5k TCL screens they use on the Redmi series. Xiaomi's battery life isn't bad but it seems to be slightly behind some other Chinese brands, but not a lot of difference

xslvrxslwt, 17 Sep 2024Because ARM exec said they'll try to "catch up to... moreBecause literally everyone's decoupling with ARM's proposed new licensing scheme, and MTK is the only one who still cannot development their own IP-Core for CPU or GPU. MTK have no choice but binding themself with ARM until NVIDIA enter the fight again next year.
ARM also have no choice, because Apple and Qualcomm and Hisilicon go full custom and Samsung has RDNA GPU. MTK is the only showcase for fully ARM solution.
Oh here goes Google Tensor, I forgot this poor boy, but who cares?
