Too bad it runs on Android… yuck!

Hills od, 17 Sep 2024Approved: that's a healthy competition Competition 🤔 not for those 2 greedy brands, not if you thinking of big innovation. Then we talking about other brands.
I have the S24U and im not impressed of sammy and haven't been for years now.

Too bad it runs on Android… yuck!

Present real improvements? Improving charging? Increase the battery? Bringing resources to the camera app? No, none of the options, let's put thinner edges on the screen and it's great.

pl2rts, 17 Sep 2024I dont get how do they get this 6.9 inch screen diagonal on... moreYep, they assume that the display is a perfect rectangle when giving its diagonal size.

          From Apple's website:

"The iPhone 16 Pro Max display has rounded corners that follow a beautiful curved design, and these corners are within a standard rectangle. When measured as a standard rectangular shape, the screen is 6.86 inches diagonally (actual viewable area is less)."

IgorS, 17 Sep 2024Brands are most of time stupidy and most consumers follows ... moreslimmer bezels are there for those who upgrade after 3-5 years, not yearly or biyearly
you are not their target audiene

I dont get how do they get this 6.9 inch screen diagonal on so rounded corners on that 16 Pro Max ?

              16 Pro Max 6.9 inch screen with body size 163 x 77.6 x 8.3 mm
Galaxy S25 Ultra 6.8 inch screen with sharp corners with body size 162.8 x 77.6 x 8.2 mm

While 16 Max Pro have even larger bezel. Do they measure the diagonal by making imaginary corners outside of the phone body ?

I miss those old days when the Galaxy S and note line were following 2 completely different approaches:

The S line aimed at "Design first" consumers who wanted to have a stylish high end device and therefore willing to make compromises regarding specification: smaller battery, no micro SD slot, uni body design no swappable battery...

And then there was the note line: the geeks smartphone who gave a f#ck about design but wanted to have a Swiss army knife like smartphone in his pocket with the least compromises regarding specification and usability: bigger battery, bigger bezels, micro SD, 3.5mm jack, removable back.....

Now the S Ultra ("note") is just a bigger more premium Galaxy S aimed at the "I want a stylish phone" consumers, the ones complaining about the "same old design" of a new smartphone.

Wish Samsung would resurrect the note line: A phablet where design doesn't come first but follows usability and practicality. Imo the last Note that followed that approach was the Note 4.

Sallomy, 17 Sep 2024Is this seriously what a consumer wants?! These tech compan... moreBrands are most of time stupidy and most consumers follows that stupidity asking for things like displays with 0,1mm bezels.

Bezels with 1mm less won't make a difference to anyone in real life, they know that, but insists in creating this kinds of useless competition for the sake of marketing. And it works wonders, because, you see... GSM Arena shared it as "news", now we are here, interacting about something useless and mentioning their phone and brand names.

Marketing strategies works both for good and bad promotion, because, in the end, it's still promotion.

                    Approved: that's a healthy competition

Pathetic. In my opinion, Samsung are years behind in foldables and are now reduced to miserly expenditures copying Apple's iterative updates - then they somehow do it worse (for example; cheaper grade/moulding on Samsung's Titanium VS Apple). This whole 'leak' is just embarrassingly derivative.

More importantly, it looks like the edge of S25 Ultra will be very flat and because of that very uncomfortable to hold

Is this seriously what a consumer wants?! These tech companies need to understand the market rather than just manufacturing anything nonsense!
