The Pro Max may have gotten too big and the Plus just never got popular. The iPhone 16 Pro and the vanilla 16 have some positives, though.

Is there really a reason to pre-order this year? There's no more lines or camp-outs in front of stores or anything like that. The phone is such a marginal improvement in hardware and the touted AI features aren't here yet. Why not wait?

          aditi, 23 Sep 2024Apple is no longer innovative company. i don't want to... moreFoldable phones are still not durable enough. So Apple are actually smart to let other manufacturers TRY to make a durable foldable first.

          99% of people buy a phone that's easy to use, has good battery endurance and good cameras. And of course with long software support so that their batteries die before the OS stops being updated. iPhones does all of this.

          I bought my Samsung Tab S7+ about a year after release (in 2021). Had it for 3 years now and it still works great and despite having only 6GB RAM its snappy. However it will very soon be 2 Android versions behind (in October). So I was happy to see Tab S9+ at discount this morning. 2nd hand value for Samsung phones/tablet are good here in Sweden so my 3-year-owningcost will not be extremely high after all. But the S7+ book case won't fit my new Tab S9+.

          As a comparison I recently bought an iPhone XS Max for small money. A 2018 model and it has the latest iOS version 18. My Tab S7+ is a 2020 tablet which had an OLD Android in late 2023.
          Hopefully Samsung can change to 7 years also with the launch of Tab S10 but I doubt it, I'm guessing no more than 5 years.

                  I was looking for new impressions of the updated IPhone 16 Pro Max in a market for electronic devices here in Germany. I also came in touch with the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. While the screen of the IPhone 16 Pro Max has an impressing size (which I really like for me) and a super build-quality, the rest feels so incredibly unimpressive. On the productivity area IPhones do not offer something. When then interacting with the Galaxy S24 Ultra, it has Pen Support, Split screen, a decent desktop mode and more aspects to my likings. Thate makes a lot of fun & sense. IPhones with iOS feel so boring and uninspiring!! Apple is coming with a bigger screen, but forget to turn that characteristic into a decent use-case. The display on an IPhone 16 Pro Max is simply big, that's it. Samsung makes so much more out of a device with a big screen. Sadly the camera set-up is currently a no-go for me on Samsung's device. And the existence of FaceID and the fact, that Google does use my peronal data in a much hazardous way than Apple blocks me from switching into Andoid's world. From an user experience point of view, Apple is lightyears behind the competition, which really sucks. Apple, simply dismiss your stubborn, uninspired product managers for iOS and IPhone an get decent folks at the table. With the current set-up of folks, Apple can only continue to lose the game.

Perhaps I worded it badly, but I didn't try to claim that other phones have 'much better' battery life, but anyway, I'm pretty sure the Honor Magic6 Pro is the battery king as of right now. TechNick did a battery test last month and the 15 Pro Max was 4th with 9 hours 15 mins of SOT. Magic6 Pro was #1 with 11 hours of SOT. And no, I'm not knocking the iPhone 15 Pro Max for its battery life. I think 9 hours of SOT is very good. It's just not the absolute best anymore.
                        Video recording is indeed the best on iPhone, but you gotta be trolling if you say iPhones are in the same league as Vivo or Oppo flagships when it comes to photos. Even without pixel-peeping, the iPhone is visibly inferior. To clarify, for my personal usage, photos are extremely important. More so than videos, so iPhones are not for me.

                                Most people don't have all the free time in the world to come to the internet to talk s**t about phone companies and act like they're geniuses all the time, and most iPhone/Samsung/Xiaomi/Oppo/Google users don't care about all the crap that these jokers spew about these companies and so they will keep buying the phones from their favorite companies anyway.

                                  last time I checked, the pro max cameras are one of the bests if not the best for photos and clearly the best for video.
                                  charging time can be a difference if you really prioritize it.

                                        1. Many of the readers are from Asia or South, East asia. Apple and Samsung in general are very expensive there. Chinese OEMs are offering phones with aggressive pricing strategy.
                                        2. many of the features that Apple and Samsung offer are not active in those countries so often buying apple or samsung for the high price doesnt always help.
                                        3. they are not that conscious about data privacy much, more like "I dont care if my data goes to some intelligence, be it US or China".
                                        4. in lower price segments, clearly chinese vendors are offering better device. for example a $200 xiaomi would more likely be better (more features) than a $200 samsung, apple doesnt even have a $200 phone.
                                        5. there are social factors as well. typically apple users think of themselves as royal among other phone users (not just in asia, in US too). this behavior is a reason why some doesnt like apple.
