But 86% faster via this benchmark if true...

Can "optimization" really close that gap?

Anyways I guess real world will tell I guess sustained performance is something else

Apple guys like to move goalpost.
BTW none of them are cross platform.

Zeratul , 23 Sep 2024its not about who care . its all about whos better . A18pr... moreAntutu is not a cross platform benchmark. They said it themselves in a blog. The newest benchmark atm is 3dmark’s steel nomad, which is cross platform and uses the most recent things compared to older gfxbench and A17 pro actually managed to surpass 8gen3 there in both performance and efficiency, let alone 8gen2. Both a17 pro and 8gen3 still performed worse than d9300+ though and 9400 should widen the gap unless Qualcomm does it’s magic with 8gen4.

There’s demand for more smartphones with fan cooling and proper heatsinks. On paper these results are quite a feat but most final products will overheat and throttle severely on stress, such as the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

            Mediatek dominates Qualcomm.

its a shame because all along iphone to be said better with vulkan api but now they dont.

These upgrades are like console revisions it doesnt make much a difference to me i think.

mediatek was once 1 of worse gpu makers look now either apple fell off or mediatek leveled up their game

It will play subway surfers in 120 fps with ease

PureOS, 23 Sep 2024Sadly but yes. Plus, Dimensity is always cheaper than Qualc... moreLast dimensity I tried (9200) had a poor signal compared to the snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Performance I'd have no problem with it but I'm picky about the signal so that would be my only concern. Maybe it has improved on the latest processors though

GFX is stuck with Vulkan 1.0 for their tests and not particularly good implementation of it as same benchmark on Open GL ES 3.1 tests run faster. Regarding support we are at Vulkan 1.3 and you can find couple titles on Play Store with 1.2 implementation. Mali grow competitive and is becoming Veliki (big one). Performance of mid range G615 MP 6 on D8300U is roughly on pair with Nv GTX 1050 Ti. However what isn't there is memory bandwidth to do some serious work with uncompressed textures or in game support for compressed one's (ASTC) as it is for now. Solution on hardware side is use of HBM instead of LP DDR, use of ASTC (which is lossy compression) on software side would be highly beneficial anyway. From open source side things aren't rosy but not horrible either and there is a trend of moving into right direction and becoming stable and usable (mature enough) in 1~2 years time period. Binary blob's for better and worse aren't bad at all regarding; performance, overheads or rendering quality. They don't leed in any metric but are all together good optimised (and better regarding overheads than even oldest and most praised contenders like Nv). Apple's GT IP from Imagination will leed them in the end not being competitive as that whose a shot in their own feet. ATI already sold what whose worthy and that's how you got Adreno so sorry Samsung but RNDA all do scalable but not made from ground's up for mobile won't really make a great thing in mobile. What Lacks is games! Sure there is no lack of them but greed gets them down to unplayable level for vast majority of titles. PC ports are usually old and not great regarding control's while costing too much. Emulator scene isn't much better as after all you can get only old long time discontinued console's emulated without getting sued and all do it's nice regarding retro games and reminder how good their were made especially regarding details and scenarios (which modern ones by default lack and no wonder there as they are money grabbing and not devoted talented developers masterpieces) and fun gameplay aren't exactly stunning edge leading regarding graphics no matter how good emulators are using modern filters and moods. To be fair they still look nice with those and are much more fun to play (without interrupting and nonsense) than native Android one's (plagued with add's in app purchase and cetera which completely ruins the experience). Another problem is ARM moving away from 32 bit execution capability on newer CPU's effectively making a lot of older native ones unusable and most ever written not even possible to port (as games continued to stick mostly to 32 bit). So beyond hardware and drivers game scean on mobile is actually pretty bad without perspective of getting much better anytime soon.

All roads lead back to Digital Chat Station who appears to be both the source and promoter of these stories

Just me and purely me thinking out loud, Mediatek is / isn't interested in Apple as a "direct competitor" more so Qualcomm. In 2023 it focused on SD 8.3 and how much better the D9300 was better.

DCS appear to have extrapolated the results from ARM's Immortalis-G925 announcement.

We have have a comparison to Apple, but nothing regarding the next Snapdragon (completely unknown).

At best it can be only seen as one persons best guess which again is just that.

I'm not going to get excited or disappointed by these why?
Mediatek will provide verifiable data, slightly after Qualcomm reveal in October.
