"However, you get the same 6.7-inch 60Hz panel for yet another year. It feels like a ripoff for a phone that's over €1,000 and something that's really hard to accept in 2024."
Apple wants to sell their Pro models more than the cheaper models. Giving their cheaper models a 60Hz panel provides an incentive for customers to buy their more expensive Pro models instead.

Lister, 27 Sep 2024Seems like a pretty poor supply chain if they can't or... moreYou don’t order the exact amount you need. You order enough to assemble, enough for warranty claims, and enough for a few years worth of dealership parts sales. That’s how all automotive parts for all of history works.. they only make the part for a few months and then move on to the next part.

We make millions and millions of that particular part for Chevy/Ford/Dodge for a few months and then retool for the next thing. Once we are done with our contract that part will never be made again, ever.

1989 nothinghappened, 27 Sep 2024They could make hundreds of millions for the pros the last... moreHow do you think this works? Do you think they just push a button and poof there is magically millions of screens inside of iPhones? Or maybe there are production lines that only for a few months every year tool up to make the newest iPhone screen before changing over to some other phone screen.. They still have to make this years Pro screens as well..

My theory is that they are unable to keep a big battery on the regular models (Since they are saving that for the Pros, reason why Pros are noticeably thicker), so the only way to keep the battery good is by keeping it at 60 Hz, plus the fact that it gives buyers a reason to get the Pro instead. They are losing trust from consumers, so I guess the best route for Apple is to go back to releasing just 1 smartphone a year, like the old days, for those who really prefers iOS, and stop going the Samsung (and other OEM's) route of offering more choices, since clearly it only makes sense on Android. Love both BTW. Heck I even loved Windows Phone OS, Samsung's Basa and Tizen OS.
Will probably buy the iPhone 16 due to the colors, for personal use, but may have to get an S25 Ultra for work, once it's out.

Anonymous, 27 Sep 2024This might be hard for you to understand.. but there is lit... moreThey could probably make 120Hz but not 120Hz LTPO, and Apple does not do 120Hz without LTPO (like every $200-600 android phone that it is compared to) because it would hurt battery life. So they just keep 60Hz until they can do it together with LTPO. And the rumored roadmap from years ago already said iPhone 17 will be the one to have LTPO 120Hz, and probably with AOD as well. So that will be the point where they can make enough of those screens. And also probably the point where LTPO will not be reserved for only the high end on Android as well.
