Any head-worn device (no matter how advanced) should not be more 1500. Only then it will be a mass market device.

Anything above that price will be a niche device. Anything above 2000-2500 price...will be a flop device like the first vision pro was.

Even meta's orion glasses...only if they somehow manage to sell them for 1500 or less in the future, will be commercially successful IMO.

I thought they quit from makingnewer model of Vision pro because 4000 for this thing is really price out of the world.

Most important spec missing from XR devices: hi end (phone flagship) cameras.

Small companies are doing better than big companies.. they're transitioning from just a portable screen to a fully smart and immersed vr with lightness in mind. Just few years to reach that milestone.

Anonymous, 27 Sep 2024They keep pushing this VR crap for 30 years now, don't... moreI wouldn’t rule it out completely, but with the current big headsets, it’s still more of a hobbyist thing. It could get more mainstream at the point where they can pack the capabilities of a big headset into the form factor of smart glasses. But that’s still years out.

PDAs took their sweet time as well to become the smartphones we have now, and many people are still not sold on the proposition that a smartphone could replace a PC for many use cases, even though it already does for a lot.

Yeah I don’t think the biggest issue with Apple Vision Pro are the lack of use cases and definitely not it’s „AI capabilities“ (whatever that means specifically). Pricing is the glaring issue with this. It can be used as a nice multimedia device and the secondary display stuff is cool as well. But $4000 for a YouTube/Netflix machine is way too much. It‘s also why home theaters are not common and why most people buy the cheapest TCL TV they can get for like $300. Or a base iPad for $300. Those are the devices this competes with mainly. I wouldn’t say it’s overpriced (by a lot at least) for the tech one gets, it is very advanced and much more so than for example a Meta Quest. But it‘s not in consumer territory. So I guess the „Pro“ in the name makes sense after all.

ding, 28 Sep 2024I like VR for gaming and research purposes. But AR isn'... moreAR is gimmick, VR is real thing.

M5 it's just chip, yet they planning to keep price same 🤣 yeah Apple never gives up on screwing your wallet and your mind 😜

I always have ‘Spatial’ when I open my eyes and walk through the world with my eyes open and see what happens!
But what strikes me most is not that AI is missing, I miss natural intelligence.
