06 October 2024

notafanboy, 7 hours agoHow so?Because when you ask more money for your phone (14T Pro is 890 euro here) than Apple (iPhone 16 starts at 849 euro here)

Then something is wrong.

But back to earth, Pixel 9 Pro deals in my country aside (9 Pro being 830 euro, but after the sale that price goes back up, not counting that)

S24 is 610 euro here, OnePlus 12 starts at 770 euro, and S24 Ultra is 952 euro now.

There are just better options, Xiaomi is not in the position to ask this type of money for not even a flagship device, and Xiaomi can than themself and their strategy from the past for that (putting themself as a budget brand or bang for bucks one bites back now)

Also even that image aside, starting at 890 euro the 14T Pro is just too expensive for what you get, even if it had a Samsung or OnePlus logo on it.

14T is just overpriced (starts at 649 euro here)

14T Pro is better, but the price is not.

So unless it drops there are better options.

Mind you this is based on my country, 14T Pro starts at 899 euro here, in others it may be a better deal.

      Too expensive
      No charger in box
      Slow USB 2.0
      Mediocre battery life
      No Gorilla Glass
1TB version not available in my country
      Adverts in the OS

      Hard pass!!

Maybe if Xiaomi reduce the price for each variant by 25% they might be worth considering, but as it stands. These are not competitive devices.

YUKI93, 7 hours agoI can easily vouch for your statement. I was on the wireles... moreThank you YUKI! More over, the bluetooth functionality is still there, if you have a jack socket, for those who want it. It's not one or another. But you got to chose.

"The Adreno 830 GPU, the graphics processing unit powering the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, is reportedly capable of driving displays with resolutions exceeding 4K (3,840 x 2,560) at a smooth 144Hz refresh rate. "

Nah, not with those prices. I'll take Vivo over Xiaomi anytime, and at these prices, might as well get a true flagship like Samsung Galaxy S.

Darth Caesium, 8 hours agoYou do know Sony and Asus phones exist, right? They may not... moreWhy don't they just buy a Sony or an Asus smartphone if they want a headphone jack instead of commenting "No headphone jack = No buy" on every post they're interested in? They should've just shut up about it.

Not that we're against a headphone jack.

Arendator, 7 hours agoFor this much money buying an iPhone would make much more sense. How so?

HorriblyMadeDevices, 9 hours agoHaha, man I love how there's always the same kl0wn$ to... moreThere's nothing wrong with wanting a headphone jack, but you constantly say "No headphone jack = No buy!" to every post you're interested in; that's why we dislike it. People should've just shut up about it.

Plus, we're not defending the big tech corporations for removing the headphone jack.

Anonymous, 10 hours agoThey are last season at launch.. We're just days away ... moreI mean I only buy new phones and there are vendors, that still sell the 13t and 13t pro new, not used or refurbished. So if I get a deal, which is 200 euros less, let's say 13t pro for 550€ and 14t pro for 750€ the exact same specs, I'd buy the 13's generation. And yes, tell me about the battery health and charging cycles 🙈 this is the main reason why I buy new phones...

The positive thing is, they support Esim!

For this much money buying an iPhone would make much more sense.

I already bought a POCO X6 pro this year so I am not in any hurry to buy a new phone.

Anonymous, 8 hours agoI'm glad to see a lot of people asking for a headphone... moreI can easily vouch for your statement. I was on the wireless audio bandwagon until I bought an LG V50. Since I started playing with its built-in Quad DAC audio, I completely left the bandwagon and now going all wired. You can put any wireless earbuds against it, and not one can even come close to the V50's crazily great audio quality, even with me using a cheap $20 wired Sony headphone. I'll miss it a lot when I switch to Sony phones. Sony might keep the headphone jack to this day after they put it back on the 2020 Xperia 1 Mk2, but I doubt the audio quality will be as good as in LG V-series phones.

Anonymous, 10 hours agoThe Pro model is a seriously good/nice phone, but USB 2.0..... moreIt's a huge missed opportunity for this new 14T series, especially now that Xiaomi has given USB3 with wired video output in every 14 series model. What's more, Dimensity 9300+ is on par with, if not better than Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Even the Dimensity 8300 Ultra is on par with Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. Speaking of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, Motorola can still provide USB3 with wired video output and Smart Connect (formerly Ready For) Desktop Mode support on the Edge 40 Pro.

Xiaomi could have hurt Samsung even more if it developed its custom Desktop Mode to rival the latter's DeX. After all, Xiaomi did give PC Mode for the OG 2021 Mi Mix Fold foldable screen phone*.

In our country, 14T Pro is 41,000. Xiaomi 14 is 45,000. Nobody will save 4,000 just to have trash cameras

I'm glad to see a lot of people asking for a headphone jack. I've never made peace with the bluetooth headset, but I'm grown tired of asking for a jack or to fight de armies of trolls. You don't have to be a caveman to appreciate simple, good and functioning things.

HorriblyMadeDevices, 9 hours agoHaha, man I love how there's always the same kl0wn$ to... moreAgreed. It's sad that I have to use a USB-DAC just to be able to listen to audio that doesn't have latency issues nor has audio crackling. I love to listen to music using my wired SoundMagic IEMs precisely because of those problems above, and wireless IEMs also have the problem of having to be recharged; being easy to lose; not being able to function below or above certain temperatures; and ultimately, having a set lifespan because of the longevity of the battery inside.

Until at least the audio issues are resolved (and aptX Lossless is not good enough when it requires a Qualcomm audio co-processor, which obviously is not used by half of smartphone OEMs and is not on most laptops; and does not fix the audio latency issues), I will never even so much as consider buying a wireless pair of IEMs. The industry wants to force everyone to use their overpriced, bad quality garbage when we already have a system that works without problems, and both systems could be included inside phones rather than forcing everyone to use exactly one way of listening to audio just to boost these companies' profits.

justasmile, 9 hours ago...That means you won't be upgrading forever? Troll. You do know Sony and Asus phones exist, right? They may not be to your taste, and they're certainly not to mine either, but they do have headphone jacks and do fit exactly what the person you replied to wants from a phone.
