That chin is hideous. Also, if you're going to be having 6 years of software support (and why not make it 7 at that point if your flagship devices do 7?), you HAVE to give this phone UFS 2.2 and 8GB of RAM. 4GB and eMMC just ain't cutting it.

If gaming is not your concern and need a secondary phone then this is surely a better option and if there is a doubt of long term use, if you use it for daily tasks like calling, messaging, whatsapp, or any other lighter tasks then this will surely gonna work properly atleast for 4 yrs without giving any problem this can handle 4 updates easily after 4 yrs of usage you can sell it to any company who buys older smartphones Samsung has a good resell value you can recover 25% of your money back at that time i had a good experience with j7 pro model bought in 2017 sold it in 2022 Dec i got 28% of money on j7 pro tat I sold it to a company who buys old smartphones

Would gladly exchange half of the promised years for OS support for a punch hole display and a headphone jack. Doubt 4GB of RAM would cut it by 2030 and just imagine how dated the notch would be by then 😅

4GB of RAM memory but six years of updates... Samsung, the masters of marketing.

Fire Smeller, 6 hours agoTo be frank,as a Samsung Fan admittedly, longer software su... moreThe biggest issue with the longer software support is the SoC uodates sometimes won't be as long.

If the SoC won't even have this long duration of support then there really isn't any point in giving the phone that length of software support.

Don't get me wrong, longer software support is always welcome no matter the phone/brand but I suspect all these long term software support initiatives might become more marketing jargon where the phone ends up getting only one update in the last year.

Nice but for long future update and heavy UI better get 8Gb of RAM at least

This is a truly cost-effective phone. While the iPhone only has 5 years of software upgrades, the Samsung A16 5G (which is inferior to the iPhone 16) already has an absurd 6 years of software upgrades. What still needs updating are the cameras and performance, this is only for the people in India.

Even budget phones are ditching headphone jack, RIP 3.5mm jack in smartphones.

To be frank,as a Samsung Fan admittedly, longer software support is seeming like a plan obsolescence thing to me nowadays, ev'ry other OEM does it.Look at Apple and IO.S 18 with IPhone 15 Pro max performance, and Samsung Note 10 and S10 saga.

While I see the motive and the benefits, the hardware simply won't last. Yes, this is pretty huge for Samsung to be extending support to this long for its budget lineup, it possibly could cause a trend for longer support for other companies to do the same,

it could follow as giving longer support for phones with inferior hardware, which isn't guaranteed to last, which could lead to complaints from the consumer.

TL:DR Good motive/direction, bad hardware not guaranteed to last.

A16 now support 6 years of updates but Galaxy S23 series and Tab S9 series only receive 4 years of updates? I hope Samsung revises their update support for S23 and Tab S9 series.

Samsung making fool to innocent poors with just 4 gb ram and android 20 lollipop ????

4GB ram is NOT surviving 6 years of OS updates trust me

                            Phone is gonna brick

Samsung really have nothing interesting to appeal for their low end phone that they are willing to gave them more updates than their S21-23 series.

Don't say 1 year, it wouldn't take 6 months for the phone to get laggy. 4GB of RAM on Android is borderline unusable in 2024.

This support is even better than their flagship devices

I honestly don't think 2 years of software support is that bad. Especially for a budget phone like this that'll perform horribly by 2026.
