Apple thinks buying an iPhone 16 Pro will turn you into a Hollywood movie maker

Its latest ad tries to make this point.

For those of us with VERY short memories, only two years ago Apple did the same thing to sell the M2 iPad Pros. But what they did not tell you is that Pro Res though possible still requires you buy , (wait for it- you closed system types) a third-party (second party, surely?) app, just as you needs must buy Halide or whatever to be able to shoot raw stills too.
I am STILL waiting for their ad to come true with just their own products!!
And even then, the ultrawide is SO BAD A LENS on the M2 iPad Pros that they have since dropped it completely on new iPad pros which have only one lens to make Hollywood movies with ! rather than supply another like the slightly better one on these iPhone 16 pros!

It's almost my source of daily entertainment whenever I see someone taking a photo using a Samsung phone because of how absurdly slow it is, it's that funny.

Many youtubers post videos shot on iphone(prores log) and edited with dehancer, davinci resolve or similar apps. What I learnt that Iphone videos are really good compared to budget and you can somewhat make videos like filmmakers but ipjone videos lack good field depth and are little blurry.Hope future iphone will shut people's mouth who are trolling them(poor android users mainly hate them).App store gives us apps like dehancer, luminar, other film emultion apps whereas play store is a garbage.

Anonymous, 08 Oct 2024You've obviously never watch I'm a Mac ads.Bro, I’m Samsung user, I personally never like Samsung mocking ads about Apple. Just very immature.
And what do you mean “I’m Mac” anyway?
Wanna do ads do professional way. Not mocking.

Dronekongen, 08 Oct 2024You can make most videos from smartphone cameras / digital ... moreIt is all Ratatouille.... anyone can become a Hollywood director with an iPhone, not because everyone will, but that a Hollywood director can come from anyone. And of course a Hollywood director won't use an iPhone, but that the iPhone can give you enough limelight if you have the proper skills to extract good stuff from its very capable hardware. After all, you very, very rarely start directing big label stuff.

Makes sense, Hollywood is basically made up of overpriced/over-budgeted mediocre to bad films, just like iPhones!

What? I have watched this ad several times in the last weeks. I live in Germany.

ShadowJaiz, 08 Oct 2024If only Apple never turn off the comment section in their Y... moreSeriously there is something wrong with people. I get people saying they don't like something, but you need to look at your life if you need to make hate comments about a mobile phone or the company that makes them. It's not as if they are forcing you to buy their products. I mean it's an electronic device get a grip.

You'd be better off making a movie with one of those 1"-type sensor phones. Paired with a cinematography app like Filmic Pro and the results would be much more convincing. Larger sensor speaks for itself.

If only Apple never turn off the comment section in their Youtube to let users express their want, like and hate.

Apple really dont care what people wants.
See Samsung, after they release s24 ultra which lot of complain in sharp edge. now their upcoming s25 ultra edge is not sharper anymore.
Anyway samsung shutter speed still not good.

It’s about the photographer, not the camera. Always has been. And that's a real one.

Everyone knows Apple supplied cameras that were on the moon. Never mind that digital cameras or smartphones hadn't even been invented then.
Nobody can call out Apple BS. It's Unacceptable

those iphones were probably used with lots of additional accesories to shoot the videos. Apple forgot to disclose that

hri5hike5h, 08 Oct 2024Of course the comments are turned off by Apple on the YouTu... moreBut as far as I can remember, Apple has never turned on their comments section on YouTube, even the older one before this ad.

Of course the comments are turned off by Apple on the YouTube video.

Provided one can adapt cinema lenses, has the perfect lighting, a complete audio recording equiment and appropriate set pieces, there is literally nothing that would stop a contemporary iPhone from shooting profressional-looking feature films.
It's amazing how much current cameraphones have developed and advanced technologically.
Actually, nobody needs tens of thousands of Dollars to buy or rent a professional film camera anymore.
