Versus other phones that are already past software support, who won't be getting a patch that will address the issue.

Pretty scary, no one is immune to bad actors, every time I think about putting my personal info to take full advantage of a "smartphone" capabilities I read about vulnerabilities. One reason why I Apple has an upper hand that they control everything and can patch things easier throughout the ecosystem.

Anonymous, 10 Oct 2024So, mr old man (based on you're picture) 1. What do... moreEven though if you're on custom ROM Android. You still vulnerable to the attack 🙄 WHY?
because this happen on the hardware side not software. You need to patch the hardware firmware using the security patch provided by the hardware manufacturer. It's not something you can fixed by installing custom ROM 🤦🏻‍♂️
People like you is what I called "talk big like you know everything, but the truth is you don't and refused to learn more" like old habits die hard 🙄 meaning "stubborn till you die" 🤦🏻‍♂️

It would've been nice if the list of affected chips were posted here... These are the smartphone SoC affected: SD 680; 685; 865/+; 870; 888/+; 8g1. There's also the W5/+ smartwatch SoC, two 5G modems and a bunch of other chips.

                    Full list is at CVE-2024-43047

Security updates are useless... simply because each system feature/driver/config ....etc has its own potential for vulnerability. So vulnerabilities are unlimited and a secure system is a pure utopia !
