This may unfortunately reverberate through to the Poco rebrands.

Xiaomi, if you increase price for your budget phones, then you better add more features not less like you've been doing in the past.

And no we don't want no cheap mediocre OLED display screen that make u go blind.

If you skip the audio jack that's no buy
                      No fm radio? No buy
                      No IPS LCD? No buy
No sd card slot? No buy
                      No stereo audio? No buy

                      It's that simple really.
Try giving us more features for less money not the other way around.

The VIA source (English) stated he has DELETED the post!
Prices Ice Universe state for Qualcomm and Mediatek are completely fabricated without merit, foundation or source. NEITHER price has been corroborated by any other source. To obtain sensitive commercial information from one source is good two is Julian! Add to that this is BEFORE either SoC has been released.

The K** Pros install Snapdragon, the Ultras Dimensity, however without deep research both appear to be both Dimensity.

Me just me thinking one possible way revert back to an all Dimensity model release if Xiaomi wants to "cap" costs given that any difference in benchmark warrants Qualcomm’s premium.
Qualcomm were head and shoulders ahead of everyone else. https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=12714&idPhone2=13215&idPhone3=12470

The end result is a conversation about IU /DCS rumours supported by his mock up / renders. the majority of these "leaks" eventually proven wrong.

A general price hike may indeed happen, but not for the reason he stated then deleted on battery again unknown.

Zuzuz, 11 Oct 2024Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco are different entities now, so each ... moreNo real significant difference between Xiaomi and Redmi at least in China. All Xiaomi and Redmi products are sold in the same stores. There is only one website selling them (Redmi does not have its own website). The finacial results and accounts are part of Xiaomi and there is only one annual report. Redmi also uses the same OS. Just branding really to target different target markets.

Anonymous, 11 Oct 2024Because of market segmentation. The K series is China exclu... moreIt's really hard to tell for sure if the snapdragon 8gen 4 is much more expensive than the snapdragon 8 gen 3. Ice universe for example says the 8 gen 3 cost $200 on launch with the 8 gen 4 costing $240 but Digital Chat Station says the 8 gen 4 will cost $195. This is quite a big difference. At the very most it be adding about $30-$40 to the cost but wouldn't be surprised if it's a lot less of an increase than that. Some other components have actually dropped dramatically in price over the last couple of years though e.g. screens. The screens from domestic suppliers are cheaper than top Samsung screens were a few years back when nearly all flagships had samsung screens. That should offset some of the increase in processor prices. The best way to judge though is to compare with the competition. Realme, Oneplus, Xiaomi and IQOO will all be releasing snapdragon 8 gen 4 phones in the next few weeks all very close to each other so we will be able to see if they are all increasing prices and if so by how much compared to last year's Chinese prices. Generally, they keep their profit margins very similar so any price increase will be passed on to consumers by all of them.

The K series is China exclusive, where the "cheap" flagships by Xiaomi are released under the Redmi brand to keep the Xiaomi as a premium-only line of products. The K70 Pro for example sells on AliExpress for $415 USD without any discounts (with choice day coupons, it can be had for $365 USD) and that's still insane value for the 8 Gen 3 and all of it's other specs compared to the Xiaomi 14.

And what everyone doesn't seem to understand in the thread is that the PRICE HIKE IS COMING FROM QUALCOMM. The upcoming K80 Pro will get the exact same ~20% price hike that the Xiaomi 15 will have so the K80 will not be closer to it since both are moving up together in price due to the expensive 3nm process of the 8 Gen 4/Elite/Whatever bullshit name Qualcomm decides on.

In simpler words, this is NOT a Xiaomi or Redmi only problem. Every OEM will take the same hike, and it's pretty obvious that no business will just take such a big hit on their margin of profit just to keep the prices down. These hikes will ALWAYS be passed on to consumers unfortunately, just like TSMC passed it to Qualcomm who then passed it to phone manufacturers who will inevitably pass it to us.
