Tara, 15 Oct 2024Sony and longevity should not be used in the same sentence,... moreLongetivity.

The definition of longetivity is living a longer and healthier life. It means how long a person or a product is going to live, and how healthy his later life will be.

It doesn't have anything with the years of support. It's meant to describe how sturdy and solidly made Xperia phones are.

But I do agree that for a phone with this pricing, a 3 new versions of Android + 1 year of security patches are not competitive and they should have it for at least 5+1.

So far i have retired only one xperia Z2 due to bulging battery ( another one is still being used as internet radio receiver due to its very practical magnetic stand).
(most) Xperias are build to last and are repairable - the extra price is well worth it in the long run.

My Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime, which is the same age as my Xperia Z5 flagship, is no longer bootable.

Kaka , 14 Oct 2024Sony phone knows for it longevity, as well if 4 years later... moreSony and longevity should not be used in the same sentence, especially when sony is known for not supporting it's phones for any significant amount of time

Anonymous, 14 Oct 2024Who will buy Sony trash phones anymore? Me having 8 Sony phones since 2011 and currently using Xperia 1 II from 2020 and still planning to buy another Sony Xperia 1 series in the future, so I am. Now talk to this hand.

By that time, I will be complaining about how Xperia... moreIt won't feel outdated at all because nowadays you can hardly tell differences between 4-5 generation of flagship chipsets unless run benchmarks and play games at highest settings. Even cameras don't really improve. Don't be surprised if they use same sensor on Xperia 1IX.

I say a new Xperia 1VI for £600 in 2026 is a great "flagship killer" to buy, much better than Poco, Pixel, Realme etc
