ive personally tested hmos next via the pc emulator and i really like how good they got the design, now knowing huawei theres probably a single line of devices that will get some sort of harmonyos next, but based on android (that would be every kirin 990 device) and kirin 9000 and higher will be the only ones getting real microkernel ohos based hmos next. however this will be fun to see how huawei will continue with emui, since huawei only has chinese developers app support, not global app support (on hmos next) and i wouldnt expect huawei to just also stop releasing android phones at least globally. emui 15 will probably be our "harmonyos next" if we were to think about it.

After the walkie talkie & pager blast incident, I can assure you the alternative world will jump on the Huawei Harmony OS Next bandwagon to leave anything US behind.

The firewall is country wide for protection. The Chinese economy relies on fast 5G internet to keep the wheels turning.
The reason Huawei is banned in many western countries was partly because of competition and also because like Apple they wouldn't put a backdoor into their products and the NSA / 5 Eyes most likely had trouble penetrating Huawei 5G equipment, which for the US would kill their ability to spy not just on American citizenship but all countries around the world that used Huawei equipment. I remember the British GCHQ say that using Huawei equipment was a manageable risk before the US ban.
Harmony Next is definitely a move to cut reliance on US tech. This will turn out to be very much like how Android is currently the dominating OS on smart phones. Because Harmony OS Next is built on an open standard other Chinese brands will get on board with versions of the OS in their phones and tech, which I can see being used in the global south and other places who want to move away from the grip of US tech.

HarmonyOS Next is (visually identical) to the current HarmonyOS but without the ability to run Android code and apps.

This is one of the reasons why I would never accept to use iOS.
This is abusive.
I don't care that it is not mature, that's not a problem at all, at this point.
