This part is true, let's face it the A16 5G is an entry level phone, if this is say a main phone due to affordability then offering 6 years to the few that need 6 years is to offer something not offered by the other makers.

Again whether 6 years id offered some may keep their phones for that long. I don't update for what I see as miniscule upgrades and if the phone does what the owner requires there is no need to change.

If it works and is undamaged then prey continue, e.g Wi-fi 7 is NOT a reason to upgrade.
Indeed some features packed into todays flagships means they have better longevity than 2020 Flagships

I and many here are way past the A16, I don't begrudge or belittle individual phone ownership. A phone is more than a status symbol, it's life swiss knife

On the suggested Qualcomm SoC for the A36, this may be a false conclusion. The A35 is 4+4 configuration hence assumption Qualcomm the A34 and A33 were both 2+6, the A36 could / should upgrade to Exynos 1480

ashrobb, 1 hour agoIs 6 gen 3 made by Samsung or TSMC? Anyway, kinda disappoi... moreSamsung 4lpe, d7300 would have been better

Not surprising considering its just overclock version of the 6G1 which meant its produced by samsung and they have seen failures in the exinos, however they still never budge from using low capacity, its still 6/128 options

Is 6 gen 3 made by Samsung or TSMC?
Anyway, kinda disappointing choice, given how much the 1480 was improved this year. Maybe the price/performance ratio of it isn't low enough to make it basically as good as the A55.
At least it will have better reception. Exynos modems aren't as good as Qualcomm's. My A55 struggled a lot while my RN 13 Pro 5G is much better in that regard.

Anonymous, 4 hours agoTo me it is just hilarious how people were complaning they ... moreIs not about complaining that we will get longer software updates. Of course, this is a plus. But only for people who will actually use those phones after 3-4 years. Or they will give their phones to other people after that.
The problem is that everybody is somehow finding this longer software updates definitory in their phone purchase or something. And it shouldn't be like this.
But phone manufacturers found the weak spot in human minds regarding this, and now they are exploiting it to the full. To their own benefit and profit.
            Is called good marketing.

Is the same human mentality like you see near the Christmas holidays or on Black Fridays, when people just enter like an*mals inside the shops, to get their hands on something that is in promotion. But they don't need or care what products are there. For them it is important that they get something on promotion.

But now that they DO get them, they will still complain saying they won't use the phone for that long... so which one is it? Or is the point of all this complain for the sake of complaining regardless of what companies do?

Viper, 5 hours agothat's your bad luck then.. or you're not careful... morenaa, I wasn't clear - it's not that they are broken or smth.. it's just that they slowly degrade to a point where they are no longer usable. Either get too slow/sluggish (yes, sw updates can make your old phone sluggish!), start complaining about moisture , although there is no such around, battery life gets bad.. such things. Apart from that they are functional and robust enough to sustain 6y of usage.. Still.. but I'm happy you guys are still using them fine.

I thought it would have Exynos 1480 as well, which would have meant excellent thermals and battery life. These scores here are also only a 3 to 5% jump from the A35's Exynos 1380, which means no difference in day-to-day usage. But the lack of a bigger performance leap is indeed disappointing. I remember when the Galaxy A32 had a very substantial leap in performance over the A31, even outdoing the A51 by a large margin and approaching the A71.
