New iPad mini has a downgraded A17 Pro chipset

17 October 2024
It looks like a binned version with a less powerful GPU.

arthurmdy, 17 Oct 2024one year old chip with downgraded speed. well done APPLE .The minis have always used past generations chipset. Why they one missing GPU it's probably binned or just to underpower it compared to their smartphones and Pro lineups.

Should've added 90hz at least tbh. Otherwise I hope they updated that jelly problem in the last gen.

It should have been released with an A18, OLED screen and larger battery. People who love the form factor will still buy it but it's disappointing for sure.

I believe they didnt use the A18 because it would score an overall better performance than the M2 in the iPad Air.
