Nick Tegrataker, 20 Oct 2024Unsurprisingly, X100 Ultra beats X200 Pro when it comes to ... moreBased on Hanstechtalk video seen on 4k 55" TV screen.
In my opinion, about main camera, it's very hard top find more details on 100 Ultra.
What you can complain about is some red part that are too red.

About telephoto, I think x200 Pro is far better.
More sharp but not too sharp (what you can critisize on some Samsung)
Yes it's processing but wisely done.
It's normal to have processing on numeric zoom

I would go for X200 Pro without any hesitation.

This is good phone but this feature is very bad because of the camera is low quality and it's not working properly and it's is useful to use the mobile

I'm undecided between the x200 pro mini since It's somewhat compact.... But camera is an important aspect so do I want to buy the x100 U or wait and see what the x200 U will look like... no easy decision lol

Tell me how X100 Ultra's 2x crop zoom was virtually flawless even compared to dedicated 2x telephoto cameras used on other phones.

You always resort to "No one believes this" argument when you can't provide a single proof to refute my claim. Very typical of you.

main camera of x100 ultra is clearly better. x200 pro is over sharpened.
also tele cameras are same. only difference is that x200 pro is sharpened more and x100 ultra is softer.
sony must release a dual layer 1" sensor. it will be a breast

notafanboy, 20 Oct 2024Find X8 Pro has a disappointing camera setup. And I don... moreThere are no credible rumors for the x8 ultra camera set up yet. I doubt they'll downgrade the camera setup that much. A recent leak by DCS said that that every 'super cup' in the top 5 (which includes Oppo) would use a 100mp+ periscope sensor. Still early days but Oppo is probably closer to including that hp9 than having a downgraded camera system. Or maybe they'll do both, lyt600 for the 3x and hp9 at 5x or something. I'd actually be very happy with that but who knows

Nick Tegrataker, 20 Oct 2024I should've been clearer with my wording. What I meant... moreabout the sensor size talk :
no like, I believe it'd be a head-to head battle with even the X100 Pro, the size difference can be felt easily imo, like i've seen LOTS of 1/1.56" sensor main cam shots and i can sort of intuitively tell it's not THAT big, 1/1.3" shots look a LOT more natural and 1 inch shots look SUPER natural. The size difference can not be properly compensated. Like only Vivo can make it look like they're actually better BUT I think it's just Vivo's better processing with the V3+ and the new Dimensity chip and not just the LYT advancements in tech. Not saying there's no difference that new tech can make, but even with those advancements, the old one will be better or at worst the same. If the new one was really better then Vivo would've plastered it all over. They didn't. They only said it "rivals". That's marketing speak, Sony's 1/1.35" sensor was also said to rival a 1 incher and so was the LYT-808 of the OP12 and the Open. Hyping up the new sensor so as to not upset anyone who buys this.

About the full res talk :
Maybe you haven't seen any proper comparisons OR you have done comparisons yourself, i don't know for sure, but what i DO know is that quad bayer can never match a full res shot with a normal one. That's because these phones are made with binning down in mind, when taking full res shots, the shots are in a mode that was not meant to be shot on, it's just a gimmick, it's not that resolving either, details look mushy/seem to have some sort of ghosting/artifacting.

For example, go and take a look at the GSMArena samples in the Nokia 808 Pureview review, you'll see the supremely natural, yet overly abundant, detail. Then for further evidence, go to the youtube channel : " Willitbeatnokia? ". This guy has excellent videos on stuff. Look at the Mi 11 Ultra vs Nokia 808 video and skip to the full res part to see what I was talking about. That phone has a larger sensor than the X200 Pro so my point could be even clearer. And if you argue that it's "a lowly samsung isocell" sensor, which might be a fair point, i'd urge you to look at the iPhone 14 Pro vs Nokia 808 video. The full res shots are subpar compared to the 808. Naturally high res sensors are just MADE to hold more information, and since the pixels are larger, they allow more information by default as well.

Phones use software trickery to make the image seem better, like pixel binning and stuff but that's only necessary in the computational photography era of the p20-p40 pro, sensors are big enough to allow for naturally full res ones to be made.

Anyways, on your X100 Ultra point, it's just software trickery. It's most likely using some zoom trickery that Google uses, these phones have industry leading non-native zooming capabilities. Google's telephoto non-native zoom is class leading whereas all sensors in Vivo phones have exceptional zooming capabilities. I believe what's happening is that these phones take in information from the tele cam, use AI to understand what could be proper detail or not and process based on that OR they perfectly utilize the demosaicing pipeline as you said. I think only these 2 being so great means that they were able to do all of these at the same time, properly. No ONE factor is making the image great, it's all factors combined.

Oppo is great too, it's way too natural/not too processed so people might not consider it "good", imo Oppo's rendition is at the very least on par with vivo. Less sharpened shots allow you to zoom in further.

And Finally, about the ISP :

Yeah, we don't know, so im not comfortable blaming Mediatek yet haha

Main cam it's a win for X100U and it's clear that X100 Ultra is better there.

Telephoto though, it seems X200 Pro might have a slight edge.

Clearly visible that X100 Ultra have higher dynamic range and slightly better fine details than X200 Pro

Just saw today that they are using mixed screens for the x200 pro. BOE and Visionox mixed supply so the screen quality may vary depending on which one people end up with. The earlier ones apparently will have a higher proportion of BOE with more Visionox later

I'm particularly interested in the medium/3x one. I barely use the 135mm/6x, so no biggie if there are no changes on that front.
