27 October 2024
The vanilla X200 was, predictably, the least interesting of the three X200 models.

In Hinako Note the characters use what appear to be compact smartphones, perhaps Xperias from 2017 or smartphones that look very similar to the first iPhone SE from 2016. It should be noted that girls are the audience most addicted to smartphones. Most of them prefer compact ones because of the size of their hands.

Anonymous, 27 Oct 2024Why does x200 pro mini have 19,5:9 aspect ratio? All smaller flagships use 19.5:1 aspect ratio to make them not being too narrow when we are typing.

20:1 ratio is made for bigger screen coz 19.5:1 is too wide (hard to hold n typing).

The Japanese are obsessed with compact technology and supposedly went crazy for the iPhone mini to the point of paying up to double its original price for one. As long as Island Anime exists we will have compact smartphones in the future regardless of what the Chinese prefer.

People in Japan buy the compact phones because they're cheaper and not because they're smaller. It doesn't help that they prefer to buy the costly iPhones instead of phones from other brands. I blame the product placement of iPhones in many popular jdramas.

Pixel, Xperia and Sharp still have compact options and are popular in Japan along with compact iPhones like mini and SE. It's not the end for compact smartphones yet and I doubt the upcoming iPhone SE (2025) will face any backlash from customers.

Unfortunately this comes at a cost, phones are becoming too large for humans to handle.

I mean if demand for small flagship phones were so great, the Chinese OEMs would be flocking over it with dozens of models. But none of them did.

Oh wow... moreNo, the fact that it's 72mm wide makes it not compact. lol People who want compact phones want the smallest phone? Why would I get a "mini" phone that's larger than a vanilla Galaxy S or iPhone/iPhone Pro, each of which outside their Plus variants.

                            200 and 200 Pro : global
200 pro mini and 200 ultra: only China

potato4k, 27 Oct 2024No it won’t. I doubt that this will even be released global... moreWow you just predicted global lunch of this phone and the people who know that this phone costs 800$ (not cheap) and still want to buy it are wrong in one comment ?
The biggest problem of small phones was battery and
absent of high end features(Cameras, chipset and else)
But this phone cuts the line between high end features, perfect battery and great size(not too big not too small with tiny bezels) for a two third of the price of a flagships nowaday with two compromises(periscope sensor is not 200mp, optical fingerprint)
Im saying there's no phone before this that could stay in the line of this phone whatsoever(battery, features, size) . I love samsung s series but never bought them only and only because of the disappointing battery.

potato4k, 27 Oct 2024No it won’t. I doubt that this will even be released global... moreAgree. Small phones are popular on online forums such as this one but when it comes to sales in the real world, it's a totally different story.

wadia13, 27 Oct 2024Don't understand why they cheapened out on the Pro Min... moreProbably cost. Just because something is smaller, doesn’t mean it cost less. Considering the larger models would sell more, giving economies of scale in production, they would probably cost less per unit of production. Meanwhile, consumers expect something that is smaller to be cheaper. Thus some corners must be cut.

Daniel.kh, 27 Oct 2024Small flagships will sell perfectly in this world of 6.8 hu... moreNo it won’t. I doubt that this will even be released globally. Most people that said they wanted a small flagship meant they wanted a cheap flagship, not small.

Apple found out the hard way. So far, zero Chinese OEMs have one. The only “small” phones are the outdated Asus Zenfone 10 and Samsung Galaxy S. Asus gave up on it , and Samsung is rumored to discontinue the regular Galaxy S in 2026. So yeah.

Tahfi, 27 Oct 2024I've been on the hunt for the perfect gadget - you kno... moreLet’s hope this vivo pro mini can deliver the chops. Right now, the only option for flagship compact with flagship camera setup is the regular Galaxy S model. It’s actually a very awesome phone, but battery life is a bit meh.

Don't understand why they cheapened out on the Pro Mini with optical fingerprint sensor, while the Pro gets the ultrasonic.
