        Aierlan, 27 Oct 2024The screen on the Oneplus 12 and Find x7 ultra used BOE... morei personally can see the differences in screen resolution but i don't mind it at all. the thing that bothers me the most is calibration, improper gamma tracking/color accuracy can make images look flatter even if the colors are vibrant due to oversaturation. That's where cheap and expensive screens differ i think.

        I've used a cheap-midrange samsung phone and an expensive one, even though both are amoled, the expensive one looked nicer to me because of the better gamma tracking. Notebookcheck has some excellent tests, look up the Galaxy M15 tests and see the super wonky gamma curve. THAT leads to the worse experience.

        The only other thing i can think of is viewing angles and that doesn't even matter when viewing head on. Color tint of the screens is also i think due to lack of proper calibration. Basically, screen "quality" is all about calibration if brightness, contrast, motion fluidity and color volume are equated, all these factors are dependent on the type of display used like Plasma (great motion, ok contrast and bad brightness), LCDs such as IPS, VA (bad to mediocre motion, bad to "ok" contrast, good brightness) or an OLED (mediocre motion, great contrast, exceptional brightness on phones but bad to mediocre large window brightness on TVs but great small window brightness).

        I just think what you're experiencing is either placebo due to premade thoughts you have in your head, the lighting was poor OR you just hate curved screens LOL

Chinese screen manufacturers cannot achieve the same brightness on 2k screens as on 1.5k screens. It's just more difficult to achieve. Therefore the 1.5k screen from the same manufacturer with the same screen material are going to be better. The x100 pro screen though really wasn't that great. You would notice a difference if you compare side by side. For example the find X7 compared to the find X7 ultra. 1.5k versus 2k. The difference is noticeable if you compare side by side but if you don't compare you will forget anyway and get used to it. Just depends on how picky you are. I didn't like the screen on the find X8 pro. Doesn't look great to me but then again maybe that's just cause I don't the curves on four sides!

The Oneplus 12 had the find X7 ultra screen which was far better and higher resolution than the x100 pro. Not sure why you're saying it was nerfed compared to the x100 pro though as that's Vivo and Oneplus has no connection with Vivo. It part of OPPO

                    And yeah, the prices aren't BAD but i don't see this year as an improvement in terms of value, especially considering the Oneplus 12 and this one have essentially the same camera system, the OP 13 might be worse due to the smaller UW cam. I'm curious to see the global pricing, if the global pricing is only 50 dollars higher it'd be alright. 100 dollars more and they're gonna be pushing it.

                        At this rate, I'm not sure what the advantages are with going for a more "standard" approach of a Samsung (or LG, if LG still makes phone displays) display... which I assume is also more costly.
                        Genuine question. With such specs for a display like the one in the article, what additional would going Samsung offer? Efficiency? Longevity? Something else?
