... and it seems you thought that I don't understand so you explainded back. 😅🙈

Tnx for your time and nice explanation. :)
I agree that it's very easy to understand, but maybe someone is confused anyway.

Feanor12, 08 Nov 2024"... The same way a 1440p screen is called 2k, this is... morethe 2k resolution and 4k resolution monikers are used for the HORIZONTAL resolution in a cinematic aspect ratio or just rounding it off to the closest number.

      3840/1000 = 3.8, round it off and you get 4, since there's basically 4 thousand pixels it's called 4K.

But actually, the 4096x2160 res is used by professionals, look at the screen resolution of Sony's BVM HX-310 monitors, that's what is used by pros to color grade HDR movies.

      Now 1080p

1920/1000 = 1.9, round it off and you get 2, so 2K. But artists actually seem to work with 2048 a lot of times so yeah, that's maybe why it's considered 2K.

      QHD :

2560/1000 = 2.56 which is just considered to be 2.5K by rounding off to the nearest 5th multiple for the sake of simplicity.

It's actually quite simple if you think about it, just that normal consumers like us have made the mistake of calling 1440P 2k when it's actually 2.5K.

jiyen235, 29 Oct 2024it's a phone, the second telephoto that reaches farthe... more"... The same way a 1440p screen is called 2k, this is called a super telephoto. They're technically wrong but the mistake has been repeated so many times that everyone understands what it actually means now..."

Dude, what are you talking about?
1440p is more like 2,5k and not 1,4k or whatever is your logic. ;)

        A x B = Bp = A/1000 k (rounded)

        Examples:
        5120 x 2880 = 2880p = 5k
        3840 x 2160 = 2160p = 4k
        2560 x 1440 = 1440p = 2,5k
        1920 x 1080 = 1080p = 2k
        1280 x 720 = 720p

        All clear?

So I showed you that four camera manufacturers - Sony, Nikon, Fujifilm and Canon - are considering roughly 85-135mm range as a "mid" telephoto range. The source of your second quote is Aborama which is a retailer of (although not specifically limited to) photographic equipment. I trust what the manufacturers say over whatever the "definition" a retailer comes up with, thanks.

Nick Tegrataker, 29 Oct 2024Or just put a type 1" Exmor T to achieve near-MFT leve... moreBecause 1/1.28 exmor T may not cost much more than exmor RS 1".
Smaller bump, smaller lenses would help decrease price difference.
Also , more space inside for cooling or battery.

You do not want to know how much Type 1.0 Exmor T would cost.
If the imx903 that nobody knows why is not out yet ( I would think of production capacity issues but iphone sensor is made at tsmc factory , which can handle huge order) is said to cost 2x more than imx989 was when new.
                            Imagine the 1".

No OEM is going to pay what SSS would ask.
Cam system if some phones can cost as much as oled panel from samsung ( $65-85) .
So far only 4 ( sony, aple, nio , oppo) accept to pay for this tech. Highly doubt other will any soon.
With how much the price of SoCs are increasing ( 8 elite is at least $140 more than 865 was in 2020) would not be surprised if next Find N / Open drops it.

                            Anyway.. Combo 1/1.28 + 1/3" + 1/2.3 + 1/3.2" exmor T would already be stronger than lyt900 + lyt600 + lyt701 + imx858. It is only matter of be willing to pay some extra for it.
Hard to imagine that someone besides Apple could spend such money.

Maybe a certain brand can wait omnv to copy this tech,at lower price , sign deal with them to use it and pretend to be their creation. Not impossible.

Anonymous, 29 Oct 2024But it has. Having two different modules would cost more... moreEven Vivo x200 Pro had camera upgrades from x100 Pro. 3 lenses will still cost less than 4 in Oppo or Xiaomi.
If Vivo x200 Ultra has 85mm 200mp telephoto, it will lose competition with 100mm 200mp Xiaomi 15 Ultra's telephoto. This is not logical.

[deleted post]" telephoto lens, also known as telelens, is a specific type of a long-focus lens used in photography and cinematography, in which the physical length of the lens is shorter than the focal length.  This is achieved by incorporating a special lens group known as a telephoto group that extends the light path to create a long-focus lens in a much shorter overall design. The angle of view and other effects of long-focus lenses are the same for telephoto lenses of the same specified focal length. Long-focal-length lenses are often informally referred to as telephoto lenses, although this is technically incorrect: a telephoto lens specifically incorporates the telephoto group"

" Telephoto lenses are sometimes divided into the further sub-types of short or portrait (85–135 mm in 35 mm film format), medium (135–300 mm in 35 mm film format) and super (over 300 mm in 35 mm film format)."

Panasonic: " Lenses with a focal length of 80mm or more are generally called telephoto lenses, while lenses 400mm or more are called super telephoto lenses. Telephoto lenses are best known for having three effects: a "pull-in effect," with which they magnify a distant subject, a "compression effect," with which they compress the perspective, and a "soft-focus effect," in which their shallow depth of field makes the subject more prominent. When combined, these effects create a high-impact image."

Adorama ( very famous photo gear store in USA) : " Telephoto lenses have longer focal lengths and are great for bringing distant scenes and subjects closer. Like wide-angle lenses, they come in both prime (fixed focal length) and zoom varieties. The term “telephoto” is also a general term to describe lenses with focal lengths that create a narrow field of view beyond 80mm. However, they are divided into three categories:

Short Telephoto – Ranges from 85mm to 135mm and are great for everyday use as they are compact and lightweight.
Medium Telephoto – Bigger, longer, and heavier as they offer focal lengths between 135mm to 300mm.
Super Telephoto – With focal lengths going beyond 300mm, this type of telephoto lens offers telescope-like magnification and are too heavy for handheld shooting.

No surprise, people here call optical zoom the lenses with fixed FL when zoom is ability to physically change it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

It's pretty obvious at this point that the size of the camera bump(s) doesn't really affect the sales numbers, so why make it smaller now?

Many manufacturers consider 85mm and 135mm to be easily in the "mid" telephoto range. Take a look at Sony's 85mm F1.8 and Nikon's 135mm F1.8 Plena product pages to see what I mean.

Gonna give same FOV of 130mm on FF camera.
