Last I checked, they were open source and relocated outside the US to escape these silly US govt officials. 😅

Xiaomi first need to iron out all bugs in HyperOS 1.0 then talk about HyperOS 2.0. RAM management is bad in HyperOS 1.0, There is overnight battery drain, there is also a bug in lockscreen that shows clock in condensed mode even if there is no notifications and finally there is a hardware decoding bug which causes videos to stutter when seeking on MXplayer I am on Xiaomi 12 pro.

PatrickCzech, 30 Oct 2024OxygenOS is the best.But you cannot download it from official OnePlus servers. You must use a shady 3rd party app to download the OnePlus firmware and in the end most of the time it's incomplete.
This is huge epic fail by OnePlus.
Xiaomi does it much better and offers to download official xiaomi firmware directly from their servers.

Funny thing is no one really believes in Linux anymore not after what Greg did couple of days back and Linus officially confirmed it's racist. That's why BSD is kept and maintained all this year's.
And guess what? It will see a spike in development efforts now.
US trashed Huawei because they were afraid od Tensilica ADSP's and did it with so much uncompetitive practices including Google play store licensing and so on. Xiaomi actually started as QC Trojan horse but it grown out of it most partly. MiUI or Hyper OS no matter how you like to call it is still just a shell around Android. Arguably rather heavy one with all the apps (for better and worse) tried to it. It's similar to what Samsung whose doing which whose even more horrible and then made a partial cut of it with One UI, which of course didn't last for long cut part at least. So it's a part of necessity (to remove old bad and outdated futures) and partly fashion (just to replace it with newer equally bad one's). I whose a CM developer long time ago and we used to say it's clean and secure until you install G-apps.
We will see what the future brings but it will be a shift to real not fake open source (ARM - RISCV, Linux - BSD) and hopefully also with community improvements.

I don't know if you really don't know or being ignorant but the real Linux as an os does not exist because Linux is not os, it's just kernel. Distros are different flavours of os having same Linux kernel.

I don't trust anything from Xiaomi or Huawei anymore. Soml much false advertising and lack of support (yes, opened few cases to them, no response whatsoever). Bought reviews in Internet and...shady tests from 3rd party websites, which do not tell the whole truth.
