jiyen235, 12 hours agozamn that's one big price hike. The most annoying one ... moreWhoa! You are right in your observation that the middle variants seem to have become costlier by more than 500 yuan. These are the launch prices of Oneplus 12 that I could find (please correct me if I am wrong).
Variant - Oneplus 12 - Oneplus 13
12/256 --- 4299 - 4799
12/512 --- NA - 5299
16/512 --- 4799 - 5799
16/1024 -- 5299 - NA
24/1024 -- 5799 - 6299
Given that the 16/512 variant would have been optimum for most, the 1000 Yuan price hike is a real turnoff.

EnderW12, 14 hours ago24GB/1TB option is a beast.
The best sepcs/price ratio and... moreGuaranteed you either never used a curved screen or tout your opinion as if it was a fact.
Personally i'm indifferent whether i have a curved or a flat screen, there are advantaged and disadvantages to both.
Also there is a reason why for almost a decade curved screens were the norm. Trends come and go and come again and so on. First smartphones were flat, then curved, now flat again, and at some point probably curved again.
And don't start with foldables, they are just mehhh... Same specs, worse cams in most cases way higher prices and compared to curved screens actually fragile.
If i wanted a tablet and a phone i buy both not that weird in between that tries to be both just in worse. And yes that is an opinion.
The only major valid criticism of curved screens are tempered glass screen protectors. Good non-UV glue ones are hard to find but exist. As for the glass being more fragile. How exactly? Glass is glass breaks, flat or curved drop it and it will likely break. Everything else is such a minor inconvenience, opinion or at this point just doesn't matter to any sane person.
And i don't get why people care so much about the ip rating.
Manufacturers in most cases don't extend their warranty to ingress protection anyway because they themselves don't give a guarantee that the ingress protection will do what it is supposed to. And a higher ip rating drives up cost a small fraction as well.

jiyen235, 12 hours agozamn that's one big price hike. The most annoying one ... moreDo you understand that OnePlus 13 24 GB RAM 1 TB, 120 Hz 2K latest LTPO 6.8 inch display with ultrasonic fingerprint reader, Hassleblad Camera set up is still cheaper than base 1K OLED display 6.1-6.3 inches screen 128 GB 8 GB iPhone 16 which is $900 !?

Is this should be a surprise? Even Qualcomm had warned about the price hike as early as late last year.

Yes, I know that the main upgrade points for 2024 phones are the 8 Elite (8g4) and their pricing

zamn that's one big price hike. The most annoying one for me is the 12GB 512 to 16 GB 512 one. That's just evil. They're gatekeeping 16 GB RAM this year. Last year we had 16+256 too AND the 16+512 version was the base version for the 512. Really shady stuff with the higher tier pricing.

FredrickX, 13 hours agoOnePlus 13's main improvements from last year's m... moreif the GT7 Pro goes global, this'll get nuked. I'm quite sure that the GT7 Pro and this phone are essentially matched apart from cameras and battery. The GT7 Pro has a bigger battery whereas this has a better camera system, though not by a huge margin (apart from the UW cam).
The display is what im interested in, both are touting themselves as masterpieces, reviews will reveal their true colors

FredrickX, 13 hours agoOnePlus 13's main improvements from last year's m... morecompletely justified, also they have trade in programs, so at some point one will never have to pay full price, so at the end it isn't so bad

Apparently there is almost a $100 price jump coming to all 2025 flagships so i guess if people want to upgrade they should be prepared to pay more

Judging by the regional price hike for the Chinese market, the prices for Europe and American markets of the base model 12gb+256gb will probably be: $849/$899
€999/€1049
£899/949

OnePlus 13's main improvements from last year's model:
- A better quality display (record breaking according to OP)
- A less curvy screen with stronger protective glass and thinner bezels
- A bigger battery (6000mAh from 5400mAh) while being thinner and lighter than last year
- Better support for Dolby Vision video recording
- A new ultrasonic fingerprint scanner (from an optical scanner)
- IP69 water rating (up from IP65)
And when you also take into consideration that the price of chipset, RAM and storage have all gone up, I think a price increase is more than reasonable.

24GB/1TB option is a beast.
The best sepcs/price ratio and future proof.
OP 12 has curved display and ip54 - main reasons not to buy it.
This one is flat and ip69, has magnetic QI charging. So it is also much better than OP12.
Looks like a notable improvement to me.
