Realme GT7 Pro's Snapdragon 8 Elite performance examined

First look at the new Oryon CPU cores and the next generation of Adreno GPU and how they compare against older Snapdragon 8 chips.

Can't wait for Oneplus to Gimp the performance on the Snapdragon 8 elite and make it perform worse than a 8 gen 3 on the oneplus 13. Oneplus devs think they know better than Qualcomm engineers who developed the chip and downclock the processor hard outside of performance mode.Web based apps and browsers on my oneplus 12 run worser than my old iPhone 11,Browser benchmarks scores are 4 generations old.

Qualcomm recommends EAS to dynamically manage clockspeed according to energy requirements of the process but Oneplus uses some opaque scheduling method that is way worse in both performance and battery life. Race to idle is the name of the game and the faster the cpu finishes the taks the quicker it can turn off its cores and save power. Wonder when oneplus devs will understand this.

    They should prioritize more on the single core speeds. I never understood the hype around multi core performance. Vast majority of day to day tasks that you do on a phone utilizes only the single core performance.

        Doom23, 31 Oct 2024I wish such articles had a segment where power draw was a s... moreWhen the chip is built on a newer process node - like the Snapdragon 8 Elite 3nm vs the previous generation 4nm -, not only you get better performance because transistors being smaller means you can cram more of them in the same area, but you also get less energy usage, because smaller transistors = electricity has to travel less.

            Snapdragon 8 elite
            Xiaomi 15 200rmb increase
            Xiaomi 15 pro 300rmb increase
            IQOO 13 same price
            Oneplus 13 200rmb increase
            Honor magic 7 100rmb increase

            Dimensity 9400
            Vivo x200. 300rmb increase
            Vivo x200 pro. 300rmb increase
            OPPO find x8. 200rmb increase

            The find x8 pro is significantly more expensive with dimensity 9400 than the Oneplus 13 with snapdragon 8 elite and basically it only has one 6x periscope for that price. The Oneplus is either better or equivalent in ever other area.

              Same phone would score different if variant tested has 8, 12 or 16gb.
              Gt7 pro starts at 8gb ram.

                        Its only benchmarks, numbers. I would like to see comparison between latest Snapdragon and Dimensity in terms of modem, connectivity, AI, video... and compare them in "real life benchmarks" - battery lifes, some video / photo treatment. We already have for tests Oppo and Vivo vs Realme and OnePlus as one family...

                            so this follows the trend so ig it's a concrete finding now, SD has better CPU and Dimensity has better GPU. The CPU is gonna be more important in day to day tasks and most likely in games too cus afaik games are CPU bound most of the time. Whatever the case, this generation has some exceptional processing capabilities.

                            I think for nearly everyone the Snapdragon chips are better but for nearly everyone the price hikes for phones with the snapdragon chips is not gonna be worth it if there's a similarly specced Dimensity phone around for example the X200 Pro.

                              CPU Performance is good leap from SD Gen 3.
                              GPU Performance looks not very promising going by this realme unit. Other phones on other reviews have shown better GPU Performance.

                                      I still have an old OnePlus 7 Pro that never lags. If you don't game, performance scores are finally meaningless in the mobile world. You should focus more on how easy it is to use your phone each day, how good the cameras are, and how long the battery lasts.
